Default Rear Seat Delete

I just did the rear seat delete on my 99 Z28. Let me tell you its not worth it. I took out the 2 rear cushion bucket seats and the back seat too and 2 floor mats. Then i weighed that at work, and it only weighed 25.5lbs.........to me that not worth taking the back seat out.

generally, when someone wants to reduce weight, they remove EVERYTHING from the interior they dont need/want (i.e. seats, door panels, power window motors, etc.) that does some damage. but i mean, seats alone arent gonna really do much as far as weight reduction.

Well i know that on Mustangs, the rear seat delete is good for 100lbs. Thats one tenth off you et. But i guess thats why camaros weigh 200lbs less than mustangs is because our interior is lighter.

I hear the biggest weight reduction as far as the rear seats go are the actual seat belt systems, not the seats themselves.

Depends on what you consider "worth it". I removed the seats from my Camaro and would do it again even if it only saved 0.5lbs. Personally the interior looks much better (provided you replace the carpet so you don't have holes left behind) with the seats out and also gives a lot more room to carry things (bags, groceries, etc.). Well worth it to me.

I might put them back in, or i might just go ahead and take out the seat beats to, that why it is more worth it.

Rear seat delete leaves open possibilities. In my car, it carries all of my "to-go" detailing supplies. Plan on possibly mounting a computer back there with a display wired up front. It's not bad as general storage space.

Also gives me an excuse for not being able to give everyone a ride. Just the cute girl.

dual exhaust scrapes went the car is loaded with 4 people, took out the back seats and seatbelts so i don't have people wanting rides. the seatbelt equipment seems to be heavier than both cushions and the back rest

I had my back seats and seatbelts out once, but them I had a daughter.....everything had to go back in. If I had another car to use as a daily driver, the seats would come out again!

heck if i can lose 30lbs im sure as heck gonna do it... how do you think these cars get so light...theres people with 2900lb raceweight which includes a driver. They take every last extra pound out of the car. who needs the rear seat anyway? everyone knows it useless....

im leaving mine, it keeps the car complete. my take is that this motor has enough torque that the loss of 25 #s wont effect things. i dont take anyone in my back seat, as it is i cant get out of most driveways. i measured, i have 1/5" of clearance with my granatelli crossmember and springs. someone in back and id be riding on my crossmember.

at the same time...you want weight in the back for traction. i was considering moving the battery to the back, like in the cubby hole opposite the spare. well see, back on topic.
