In '98 there were three US sold 1LE SS', and one in Canada. None were bright blue, which is an awesome color BTW.

I know one of the US '98 SS 1LE's is NBM, the others black and silver respectively IIRC. The export car is white. I have records for all four on my home PC.

Correct, out of 99-1LE's made in 98, only 3 were SS models.

Actually there were 129 (might be 128) 1LE's made in '98. The 99 number was pushed around the net alot, but Jason Debler at cz28.com got numbers for me from Scott Settlemier a couple years ago and there were more cars. I have VIN's for about half of them, and would appreciate photos of any 1LE SPI labels (I own 1le.net, but it has been down for a while. I will put it back up in the summer).

now here's the thing, according to camaroz28.com that color was only produced in 1999 . . . unless that SS is a 99, i really don't think that's the factory paint. body color mirrors and and the 35th anniversary SS decals make you asuume it's a 2002, but that color wasn't produced . . . . . unless thats a beger/GMMG camaro!!!!!!

no, that's not it, that's def. a repaint. looks like a navy blue with purple pearl. the bright blue is lighter than that.

I was under the impression that bright blue metalic was a '99 only color and that it was not available on the SS (at least it wasn't when I ordered my HOSS).

You could not get all colors in SS trim. I don't know why this is, but I remember it giving restrictions on the order form. Maybe it was too difficult for SLP to match the paint for the hoods and spoilers, or maybe they just didn't want to deal with all the color changes. There were 10 colors officially offered on the '99 Camaro. Of those I believe that only 7 were available on the SS (no M. Teal, B. Blue, or B. Green). I will try to dig out my sales brochure and other material to check if it confirms that, but that's what my memory is telling me.

Of course I was only interested in ordering a HOSS, but I really do like that Bright Blue Metallic too.

I remember seeing that color at a dealership in San Antonio Tx.It was on a 99' model TA that they just got in.I remember on the sticker it said "Medium Blue Metallic".Now sometimes they change the name of a color depending on wether it was on a Firebird or a Camaro.like Monterrey Maroon on a Camaro I believe is Maple Red Metallic on a Firebird. The blue looked awesome!

As far as I remember, this color was only available in 99'.It was NOT available for the SS packaged cars. Now,that does not mean that there weren't any SS made in that color.

I have noticed that GM will let some early production cars out the gate before they discontinue the combo for whatever reason.Example would be the Purple WS6s in 98',Sport Gold metallic WS6s....etc.The brochures may at times say that a certain combo is not available but, just for a couple of cars, they might let a few go of a particular combo.

I'm kinda thinking that blue Camaro might not be the real thing. The side mirrors are body colored like 2000+ even though that color was a 99' only color.Other stuff like the stripes, chrome TTMs and the fender emblems could be added at any time...Hmmmmmmmmmmm....

Carlos01SS.......Awesome Z28 man!!

Thank you! It's been a labor of love, she's got GREAT handling skills, I LOVE to run her in the twisties like I'm Michael Schumacher!!!

So basically we still don't know if this is in fact true or not regarding the existence of a 99 BBM SS???
