My favorite year Camaro. I would love to get one and put an LSX motor in it.

the R/S modles have two grill inserts that make up the whole grill, the other modles have a one insert that makes up the grill

The "split bumper" as everyone seems to call 70-73 cars drives me nuts. The "split bumper" refers to the RS option. You could get the RS option alone, or combine it with the SS or Z28.

I am a huge fan of the 1970 model year myself. If I recall correctly though, the 1970 model wan not released until early 1970 and the 1969 models were still being produced for an extended model year.

Most people seem to know that the "split bumper" Camaros were the RS optioned cars, it' s just how they refer to them for some reason.

The 70 models weren' t released until mid 70, hence the '70 1/2 designation, and the 69 was still being produced until mid-70.

nice. kindof got the stinkbug stance going on but beautiful car. it is nice to see others with a 70z that is not a cutup drag car or date coded 100pt resto.

btw i have a real 1970 Z28. not 70 1/2. made jan 15, 1970. i have the original matching drivetrain in the shop. currently it is 505cid, 9lbs boost and 7004r. currently going to a pro touring setup. just finished paint and suspension. here is an old pic in drag mode.

There is a nice Hugger orange w/ black stripes 70 Z28 for sale locally. Looks like a fresh paint job on it. Interior looks brand new. Not sure about the engine or if it's real. He wants $13,500. Thinking seriously about it. It is a split bumper one too.

February 26, 1970 was the official date of announcement for the new 2nd gens, and '69-style models were produced up to that date according to records. The 2nd gens were started into production January 5th 1970, but not released to the public (annouced) until the February date. The "70-1/2" moniker that everyone says on the '70 models is because of the shorter manufacture period.
