HEY! keep it or sell it??? 92 RS Heritage
I'm getting opinions... I have a 1992 RS bright red w/black stripes. 3.1L V6 auto. I am the only owner, I bought it brand new 34 miles on it in 1992. I just got a 1999 Z28. The RS is a solid car, runs well for its miles, has maybe 4 or 5 little rust spots on it, and is all original. The only thing that was replaced was a transmission back in 1999. Otherwise, it was always serviced in a GM dealer. If I keep it, I want to restore it. Or should I sell it?? Its been sitting for about two months now while I decide what to do with it.
Any opinions???

That' s a tough call. Being a one owner car, if it were mine, I wouldn' t want to sell it. It may only have the 3.1, but you could make it a daily driver, or just do an engine swap. It sounds like you' ve taken decent care of it, so it should be pretty reliable for you.

If you are asking, you are probably not that sentimental about it, so I would sell it. It will cost you way more to restore it than it will ever be worth. I have seen the Heritage model in excellent condition, low miles, in the $3000 to $4000 range with the 3.1l.
NOW if you are truley sentimental about it, then keep it, restore it, and shove an LS1 in there. Stick the origional drivetrain in a corner somewhere.

Id say keep it. The amount you would actually be able to get for it, isnt worth it.
My '89 iroc was at the stage, keep it, or sell it, because another penny into it and its a total loss essentially if i try to sell it. Ended up deciding that id keep the car, with no intentions of ever letting it go. Now has new paint, 4th gen dash, Ls1 waiting to go in etc.
The Average iroc, in decent shape (no rust, bad paint, runs ok) goes for $2000 - $2500
The average V6, in decent shape ( " " ) goes for $500 - $1500
The average fully modified thirdgen (Interior swaps, engine work, perfect bodies etc) go for $4000 - $10 000.
Its really what your future plans are with it. And keep in mind that Ls1 car's will go through the exact same depreciation cycle thirdgens are in now. Eventually you will be able to snag a nice LS1 Z28 for $3500. Third gens are finishing their cycle, and are starting to move back up. They will eventually be worth more then 4th gens. So keep that in mind

I'm with the guy above me. Third gens have had their day in the sun but they are on the rise again. Prices are steadily going up for these cars, and prices for 4th gens will start to go down sooner or later.
In the end though it is your decision to keep it or sell it. Right now you could probably get around 2k or so, but in another 5 you could probably get 6 or 7k.
I personally would keep it, I have always loved third gens. I have a 86 Iroc myself, that I am rebuilding and I'm building a ls6 motor for. I say restore it and enjoy it all over again.

Thanks for the opinions. I guess if it was going, it would have the orange sign in the window by now. I think I'll clean up the body, re-do the interior carpet/seats and eventually drop the big engine in it. By then I'll have the Jeep DD and then the biggest choice will be which Camaro to take out for the nice days!
