Probably depends on how bad the leak or defect with the system is.I would grab a phone book and call around and see who in you area gives free estimates.

Usually AC work of any kind tends to be a little pricey.

If you are sure that all you need is a recharge,do a search on this site about using one of those recharge kits sold at Autozone or WalMart.Its not terribly difficult to do and the kit is fairly cheap ($10 -$20) with guage and instructions..

I just got one of those cans at the auto parts store and charged it. It blows ice cold now.
