2000 Z28, aluminum driveshaft?

Default 2000 Z28, aluminum driveshaft?

I have a buddy telling me the Z28's cam with an aluminum drive shaft... i'm positive they didn't, only SS's did....

anyone care to verify?

if you got 3.23 or 3.42 gears you got aluminum drive shaft. if you have 2.73 gears you have a steel drive shaft...which is better anyway.

All M6 cars got aluminum driveshafts, whether Z28 or SS. I think the only A4 cars that got them were the ones with 3.23 gears. So basically exactly what the above post said . I don't agree that the steel is better though. It might be a tad stronger, but it's also heavier. The aluminum driveshaft can still take quite a beating.

I'd much rather have the steel one imo.. I've never seen a steel one fail but I've seen all kinds of Aluminum ones just tear in half like can on stock cars.

at LA invasion i think it was 16 cars broke. 10 of them were because the aluminum driveshaft broke. most of those were just M6 cars with bolt ons.

aftermarket aluminum shafts that are bigger are great, but they are stronger.
