Default 99 Camaro Z28 charging problems

Well I was driving the car the other night and the battery gauge just kept going down. So when I got home the lights were dimming. I went out today to start it and it started fine and the volts were reading normal. I have a slight power steering leak and I was thinking it might have caused a short in the alternator. Does that make sense or is it something else?

If the volts are dropping, and sometimes it starts fine then its likely the alternator. Also I would check all the cables on the battery, alternator, ground etc

well I took the alternator out today and noticed someone who owned the car before me cut 3 of the 4 wires coming out of the alternator plug and spliced the other one onto something else. Does anyone have a wire diagrahm to see where those three are supposed to go?

Sinced it worked fine before the pump started leaking everywhere should I even bother hooking them back up?

On a side note whats a great degreaser since the pump fluid made a mess.
