Some tips:

Don't spray with the gun in front of you if you don't have enough room to keep the gun at the right distance.
Stand off center and keep the gun on one side of you.
Spray one panel at a time instead of a whole side of the vehicle.
Walk back and forth to cover the distance instead of passing the gun past your torso.

No runs for me, but I have some orange peel from trying to lay down the mist coat to stand up the metallic flakes. Waited too long to apply final mist coat. Nothing color sanding won't fix. Another reason I chose a single stage over BC/CC, easier to sand out imperfections. Being this was my first metallic, I knew that correcting mistakes in getting the flake to stand up would be costly with BC/CC vs. single stage. Plus, I got a great deal on a discontinued 5.0VOC SS. Metallic is expensive.

Update:

Got the paint done, new lights installed, new Yokohama AS430 tires on the rear (fronts surprisingly were in good enough shape to get many more miles out of them).

Will post some pics tomorrow!

Can't wait to see some pictures. Gotta admire all the hard work you put into this car, I would've parted it out. Of course it might have been difficult to part since every single panel had damage to it, and the interior was beyond trashed.

Decided to fabricate my own sail panel. I feel sorry if you have a 'vert and this piece gets broken. The dealer will own your wallet.

Yes, I still need to finish the sanding and complete buffing. The pics aren't the greatest, I know. I was in such a hurry to get the pics took before the sun went down that the camera settings weren't correct.

Metallics are hard to paint. The hardest part is getting the flakes to stand up on the last coat. It takes a light mist coat to get them to stand. But, you run the risk of orange peel with too light a coat. To top that off, any runs or sags show up really bad due to the flakes settling at the bottom of the run.
