Default LS Vega

Well I have had the motor for a while but finally the plan to get it in my Vega is coming true!

Here are a few bad pics of my 72 Vega getting the 416 L92 stroker put in just so I can show it off a little.

I just have to figure out how to fit headers in this thing and some steering box issues.

I'm not really sure how tall as we just set that on there for the pic. I am getting the same manifold from very soon though and should have the engine on the dyno with it. It will be the L92 version of this one. It's freaking awsome.

I just have to work out some steering clearence issues with the LS motor. Not sure what to do yet. Also header issues of course too. Besides that I am almost ready to roll.

Reminds me of my first dream car back in '73. I wanted the Motion Vega with a 454 in it. I still dream of that little monster from time to time, but of course now I would want an LS in it. That motor looks great in there so far.

Those are the two biggest pain in the asses that the H-body LS swap faces. I think I'd do a front clip swap with mustang II suspension to solve the problems if I was to do it again.

Good luck

The LS has a deep skirted block. The H-body uses a special oil pan with V8 as it is then throw in the LS with a deep skirted block and you run in to problems. I used a modified crossmember (h-bodies are removable) and adapted a 240 Z rack and an Autokraft oil pan. I used 98 Camaro manifolds as it's a basically stock engine.

Hey guys. Just throwing in a little update out and hopefully a big one next week. Engine is getting ready for the engine dyno and a few things have changed.

The engine was built by W2W with a street cam and compression as that is what it was going to be used for. Now that it is going in my other Vega (Purple one) its is a 100% track car. My car is with Billy Briggs and we are milling the heads to get the compression from 11:1 to about 12.5:1 and changing cams to something closer to 24x/25x@50 and 62x 62x on a 114. I am going to be running one of Cary's L92 fully CNC'd intakes like in the pictures above and am topping it off with an Accufab 4500 2150cfm TB. I also have a new Coan PG and converter on the way too.

I don't really have a guess at HP yet but whatever it is when I put it in my 2600lb Vega (with me in it) I'm sure I'm going to wish I was wearing a diaper the first time out.

Oh yeah and it will be running 60 something lb injectors off a FAST XFI so I have some room to add a dry shot in case I have a death wish.

When I have more details I'll probably post in the dyno section.

I'm getting excited!

Just an update. First runs happened last night. Only one made it all the way down the track without letting out of it.

1st run got a little squirly at 1/2 track and I let out.
2nd run i used the T brake and it put me right into a wheel stand so i let out.
3rd run I left the line at idle so i could just floor it and keep the nose down and ran a 9.67 @ 137.46
4th run I started fishtailing at the top end and ended up in the opposite lane inches away from the other car. That was scary.

I think this thing might be kinda fast.
