Default 1990 Chevrolet 1/2 ton 2WD RCSB

What's up guys? Got my truck running, finally! But I am not done with it yet. It is a 1990 Chevrolet Truck 1/2 ton 2WD RCSB. I just need to clear up a couple of glitches. It is now powered by a 2002 LS1/4L60E. Speedometer does not work, hooked up 817 (LS1) to 437 (truck). Hope that is right. How do I know if the SES or check engine light is on? None of those are on right now, but I disconnected the MAF and an O2 sensor to test if the light came on and it never did. Thanks Art...

Check Engine light should come on automatically when you turn the key to the 'On' position. By the way, your check engine light should be hooked up with the wire from the PCM and switched power. Remember the PCM is providing ground not power.

By the way, the stock speedo from the 90 used a different vss signal than the vss signal generated by the 2002 4L60E. Either you have to condition the signal or change the speedo.

The check engine light comes on at start up, then once started it goes off. I hooked up 419 from the LS1 to the back of the trucks cluster, also 419. I just want to be sure that it is hooked up right.

My check engine light does work. I just did not give it enough time to come on. The PCM needed several cycles to send the signal. I did this by disconnecting the MAF and turning the truck on and off several times. Finally the light came on. So it always worked, I just never gave it enough time.

little late, but thanks for the check engine light info. I figured the PCM powered the light (as opposed to grounding it) because the wire is brown/white. apparently not.
