LS1 Miata starts & dies Vats is OFF
Hey guys I have a 99 z28 LS1 t56 swap in my 01 Miata.
I started the engine:
http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_u...?v=A1zmKyTfDyE
But the engine sounds like it's only firing on 4 cylinders? It's been a while but when I checked last the front cylinder on the drivers side and the front two cylinders on the passengers side had cold exhaust runners.
Please keep in mind that I also installed a Texas speed 228r cam kit before first start up, and heard somewhere that with a cam swap you have to re-synchronize the cam sensor or something along those lines???? Excuse my ignorance lol.
Any ideas? Or do I need to post more information such as powers/grounds etc...

What are the odds the injectors need to be cleaned? If they've been setting for a long time, soak them in some Sea Foam overnight and see if that clears it up. Also, have you checked your fuel pressure at the rail?
You're located really close to where I live in Dallas. (Dallas: Bush and Coit)
BTW, your video link is wrong, it should be:

Thanks for th video correction. I failed to mention that I also installed an ls6 intake (brand new!) so new injectors etc...
Haven't checked fuel pressure but I am using a corvette regulator and a walbro 255, and NEW 3/8ths fuel line front to back so NO reason why fuel pressure shouldn't be ok. If you listen closely while the engine is running I try to rev it up and the engine just cuts out as if it weren't getting fuel.

Sounds like open headers.. Do you have the O2 sensors plugged in? Mine reacted very similiarly.. Would idle ok, but as soon as you hit the gas and let off, it would suck air in the headers and the O2's would see it as lean and adjust accordingly.. Stalls almost every time! You can try to un-hook the O2s and see if it idles?? I never personally tried it, but it was recommended to me.. Good luck!

I just got done spending a month trouble shooting my engine, so here is my advice: don't be proud and make assumptions. Check that you have 12v at the injectors and at the coils when the key is in the run and start positions. Check your fuel pressure (just press the shrader valve at the end of the rail and see if it squirts out). Also, look at the spark plugs on the cylinders that you think aren't firing. If they smell like fuel you know you have fuel but no spark. If they just plain look nasty then replace them.

Fixed it!!!
Checked fuel pressure... 0 psi!
We were out of gas, lol.
Added 3 gallons of fuel, swapped ignition coils between driver and passenger banks, connected some grounds and she now sounds sick!
