Yes, I did buy a new set of Moroso solid mounts on the engine, but the frame mounts are still the OEM Nova. I hear you on the 10-15 years. Unfortunately for my project, I recently agreed to do a cam swap, tune and rear differential repair on a friends Corvette. That will slow me down temporarily, but also help build up the funds.

I have seen the W-body exhaust manifolds before, and I agree that the driver's side install looks good, but they wouldn't be symmetric and I understand they have rather small cross section?

i'll be following this build as well. have you thought about using truck shortys? I wonder if they make a 302 mustang shorty with big enough primaries, I know the tubes line up with a ls flange perfectcly, just whack off the stang flange aND weld in the ls flange

My friend finished up powder coating the valve covers. Gives is a unique look I guess. He used a base of yellow powder, covered that with some custom stickers, and then coated the covers with blasted aluminum powder. Once the stickers were removed the yellow lettering was displayed.

I am working on installing the remote oil filter this week. I welded a bracket to my front bumper support, but it's a little too close to my front wheel right now. I'll have to cut it back off and move it a few inches. I'll get it right sooner or later.

Default fuel injected

hello chevy406. i love the nova build. i want to rid my self of the factory intake manifold & go with your throttle carb setup. can i have a parts list? i see the intake manifold is a edelbrock. fuel rails are a no brainer. throttle body? thats the question. does it have iac & tps sensors? do they a dbw version? also the fuel regulator idea was dead on. how is the excess fuel returned back to the tank? answer to question would be greatly appreciated. thanks. keep wrenchin'.

I am using an Edlebrock Victor Jr LS1 EFI intake manifold and Edlebrock fuel rails. I will bring my fuel from an external fuel pump mounted in the rear, through a -10AN line and split it to two -8 hard lines going into the front of each rail (not shown in the pictures yet). I will come out of the back of each rail with -8 hard lines, into a boost reference Aeromotive fuel regulator and return from it to the fuel tank using a -8 line. The throttle body is a cable operated Accufab 4150 model. It does come with an IAC and TPS but I don't know of anyone that offers a 4150 series throttle body that is DBW. You would have to use and elbow and a single hole 90mm style TB if you want DBW.
Edlebrock Victor Jr LS1 EFI: 29085
Aeromotive fuel regulator : 13101
Magnafuel 625 Protuner: MP-4301
Accufab 4150 throttle body: 4B-4150POL

As a side note - I bought each one of these fuel delivery parts from classified adds on different car forums. Saved a lot of money by being patient and shopping around.

Mr. Chevy 406, can you take a pic of the engine/engine compartment from the front of the car, right in front and even with the grill so that we may see just how tall the intake/carb is? Thank you for your help.

the car is coming along great.. the motor bay looks top notch.. the only thing id change would be the old alternator. that just stands out like a sore thumb.

First to answer some questions:
The transmission is not in the car in those pictures, and when I lift the back of the engine to make it level the alternator does hit the cross member. I plan to notch the cross member for clearance around the alternator and keep it in that location. The crusty old alternator was one I found on my shelf, and it will be replaced with a nicer one for final installation. I'll work on a picture showing height of the throttle body. One of these days I need to test fit the hood to see just where I am with clearance...

On to a small update. Slacked off work today and was able to spend the afternoon working on the Nova for a change. I have been over analyzing location of the coils for a long time now, and I finally settled on mounting them just under the hood hinges. That should keep them away from exhaust heat and fairly dry plus they aren't too conspicuous (as opposed to mounting them on the valve covers). I spent several hours on these brackets, and they are a little crude but only cost a few dollars to make. I'll have to buy some cut-to-fit plug wires next.
On to the pictures:

Started with some 2" x 1/8" flat bar and welded some nuts on the back. Then added some brackets to bolt up with the hood hinge bases:

Truck coils bolted on and stock plug wires mocked up:

Took a couple re-dos to get the coils tucked up close to the hinge in the closed position without getting in a bind. Add some wire loom and plug wires and that side is done. Driver's side is almost there too.

heres a pic i have saved, from a nova build on another forum. i thought it was a good idea for a turbo'd LSX's coil placement, maybe exposed to alot of heat here though im not sure.

oh yea, awesome build man! great attention to detail, its motivating!

Finally getting around to posting a picture for you:

And here is one to show where I hid my remote oil filter. I need to get rid of that yellow overspray. Never noticed it until now... Don't bust my chops too bad on the Fram filter. It was just one that I had laying around that was never used for some reason.

I hope to make some decent progress this week since I plan to be off work all week.

I dont want to quote pics, but those are my pics of the coil setup. I think your hood hinge area is an original idea but honestly dont think it looks very good. Just giving a honest opinion. The rest of the build looks great. Its going to totally transform the car.

not meaning to hijack ur pics LS1nova.

i like both ideas, under the hinges is different but it works, i would make some kind of cover to hide them though, protect them from water and such, but awesome build none the less!!
