1998 Camaro: 3.8l/T5 -> 6.7l/T56
Here is my little swap thread for this project..the pics are kinda rough, as in the car is a little dirty, I haven't fully detailed it yet.
Here is this turd as I got it..running and driving 3.8l T5 car..
It's a complete manual option car, nothing in it at all..basic right down to the Casette Player. It does have AC, and I kept it..
After selling off all extra parts from this car and my red one I broke even, and had about an extra $500..so the car and replacement parts were free..
First mod done was this..
Walbro 255 installed, and it was covered up with a piece of Aluminum and some RTV..
So I had this layin around from my red car..
And all this..
Out came the V6/T5..
In went the 408/T56..
I hooked up the Corvette Regulator with some Fuel Line and a custom one that I had..
LT1 Radiator went in, aswell as the stock Fans. Moser 9" with 3.89 Gears went under the back with all UMI Suspension..relocation Cross Member FTW!
Here's the wiring..
Stock Fuse Box..
Moved the Engine CTRL Fuse and Wire to the Fuel INJ 2 spot..
This powers that wire in the Fuel INJ 2 circuit to make it look legit..it wouldve worked in it's original spot, but I wanted it to be right. Everything else works as is. I used my LS Harness that I built and just made the proper adjustments. I made a couple of small wiring adjustments on the car to make it start..had to ground the VATS signal wire coming out of the Fuse Box. All extra wiring was folded back and sealed up properly..nothing was done shitty.
The C-100 Connector on the Wheel Well is the only connector that is there, all 10 slots are used and everything works, including the AC. The Starter Wire connects into the Car like it did stock on a LS Car.
Under the Dash I eliminated everything and got it all in the C-230 Conector..
One connector on each end makes it simple.
Stock Gauges work perfectly..there is one ground wire that has to be grounded for them to work. I tuned everything with my HP Tuners and have it all calibrated correctly(Speedo, Tach). The 1998 is an oddball, the Fuel Wires needed to be wired directly in to make the Gauges work right.
I converted the T5 Console Plate into a 6spd one..
Cheap and effective..
I also installed a Norris Catch Can on the Engine..it runs ALOT better..
Once I get the AC in the car I'll take updated Engine pics..I'm just working out the bugs at the moment..but here is the Car after some accessories and paint..
I kept them LT1 Tail Lights too..
Not too shabby for a resurrected V6 turd..

I'm still around..just been busy..
Thanks..you know me, I'm always ****** with somethin..
It doesn't really need it.. that and this one is just a cruiser/street warrior. I'll run it and have fun with it, but not murdering it out like my red car.
Let me know when you get back into town.

Looks Sick! Awesome job.
When my 2000 Camaro's 3800 crapped I was seriously thinking of doing the same thing...I just didn't have the funds and just put her back as a stocker. I can still dream tho.
I think I've had more street challenges with my V6 camaro than any car I've owned. Stock steelies and plastic hubcaps must make me look like an easy kill. Love to have a sleeper 408 or 427 LSX waiting for them next time.

Do you have any more details on the wiring and how it might differ from a 97 v6. I've really wanted an LS1 car lately and now that I have a car that I can drive all year round I can throw an LS into my RS since it's already blown and not be worried about not having a car. Plus I don't think i'd be able to afford LS1 insurance. I like how you did the fuel system too....oh and access panel FTW!!!
