Default L92 into 06 Mazda Rx8

Ok I'm totally green here and came across a nice body minus engine and trans rx8. i have a l92 aluminum block complete and a complete Ls1 t-56 laying around. my plans are to use the Ls1 drive accessories and wiring oil pan, trans, etc on the l92 which will be cammed and all the vvt done away with. I know hinson makes a kit but has ayone done this and what should i look to expect. As always your help is appreciated thanx

I haven't done an RX8 but I have a L92 with VVT in my 240SX. I'm curious why you want to do away with the VVT.

There are at least two lurking on the boards. One was a decent build thread which would probably help you the most.

Hinson doesnt have a kit yet, I mean he might and I hope he does but they have always been known for "Hey its almost done" so dont hold your breath. You can make your own mounts and modifyt the oilpan if needed just like so many 240sx and bmw swappers have done, its not rocket science. headers to use can also be done in a similar fashion to them based on what fits and where there is room (steering shaft clearance, engien bay tightness, starter in the way, etc.)

I want to build an LS1 RX8 so badly but dont have the time or funds right now.

I'd love to see you finish it up and be happy with it, I think Hinson and others suggested retrofitting the FD RX7 steering rack for optimal clearance?

If you need an LS2 GTO oil pan I have one with windage tray, pickup, and dipstick.

PM me if you need it.
