i want to put a gto ls1 in a 72 firebird. the reason for the gto ls1 is i live in Oz and its all we've got here. i was thinking about using an fbody oil pan with brp mounts. will the accessories be a problem? the AC compressor is not required. if the alternator is in the way of the frame will a fbody alternator work since its smaller? will any stock gm exhaust manifolds work in this frame with bmr mounts? im also going to use a built 700r4 iv already got. i'll use an adaptor kit to mate to the ls1 and use a tci constant pressure valve body so tv cable adjustmest will only control shifts and not line pressure. im also going to run an external pump with a corvette reg/return. i assume i'll need the ecu reprogrammed and a modified wiring harness. will my gauges work? speedo will be fine since im using a 700r4. is there anything im overlooking? i havent even bought an engine yet. just want to be sure i know what im in for

the fbody pan works but you still have to notch it or notch the subframe a little to get it to fit and the alternator will fit. here is a pic of mine.

One of our guys is running the TCI valve body in his 700R4 with an LS1. It is a nice setup if you have money into a 700R4 and dont want to go with a 4l60e. You would basically run a manual transmission setup for the tune as the PCM wont be controlling the transmission. We have these setups if interested.
