Default power steering line adapters

I am trying to find info on fittings to adapt the 05 truck power steering pump to my 71 chevelle steering box. I have been through all the A body stickies and if I overlooked it I apologize.
Can someone point me in the right direction and tell me the sizes needed?

Thanks in advance.

Get the 96 Jeep Grand Cherekee steering box to improve your steering feel and I believe your truck lines will fit. Make sure you keep the stock 71 pitman arm to reuse on the GC box. Great mod and cheap 75.00 bucks at best.

Otherwise Lee's Engineering in CA. has the adapters you need. Google for them.

I just posted the parts on my Nova swap, which will be the same that I used on my Chevelle..
Put together the power Steering High Pressure side. I will do the low side once I find a cooler. Might use a Camaro one or aftermarket one.

Used the following:
Russell
620421 90 degress Endura Hose End
648060 O-ring 16mm x 1.5mm to AN Adapter (power steering Pump).
632600 Power steering / Teflon line SS Braide hose.
Aeroquip (The parts store was out of the adapters in Russell, so I used Aeroquip).
FCM2964 for the power steering to AN -6 to 5/8-18 Inverted Flare.
FCM2965 for the power steering to AN -6 to 11/16-18 Inverted Flare.

Brian do those fitting crimp on to the braided line or is it friction fit ?
They do make for a clean looking install.

Thanks you guys, Tony

Pertty much, three are different type of AN fitting, but you should be aware of the different type of Hose.. For power steering, you should be using the hose that is rated for that cause power steering has very high pressure.. (1200-160+ PSI).. that is a reason you should be using the Teflon line hose. You should go to the web sites of Russell, Ear's, Aeroquip, etc. .and download the Catalog to see what type and selection there is for you.

For your Fuel, you can use the lower rate pressure hose. Water, AC, etc different requirements and ratings.

But yeah.. once you get going. You can get a little crazy.. but is is not hard to set up AN with SS Braided hose once you get going.

For fuel you should also use the high pressure line, TFE or PTFE, as the rubber lined hose in known to degrade over time and people have complained about smelling fuel when using the rubber lined hose. The teflon lined hose is also much easier to work with.

Your local stock car shop should have the addapters and hose as this is very common. I got the addapters from Allstar performance they were a little cheaper.

Yes deff PTFE lined hose and fitting with a olive in them.

Well this is nice to know. I didn't think that I could make these type of Pressure hoses myself, as opposed to trying to explain all this to my local hose fab guy.

Thanks again, Tony

Spot_55,
If you want to simplify your hose swap you can swap the high pressure fitting in the back of the truck ps resevoir with the high pressure fitting from the one in the Chevelle pump. This will allow you to use the factory hoses for the Chevelle steering box.

I need a solution for a stock LS1 P/S pump going to a 1975 Corvette box...think these parts would work? Any way to measure to find out? Sorry, I'm a newb at all the AN fittings and such...

Thanks in advance.

Yes they should work. only thing to check is that adapter thread size for the steering box.. but for a 75', they shuold be the same... I think there is one more size smaller. 1/2" Inverted Flare..

FCM2964 for the power steering to AN -6 to 5/8-18 Inverted Flare.
FCM2965 for the power steering to AN -6 to 11/16-18 Inverted Flare.

Much appreciated. I'll check the adapater thread size on the steering box to be sure, and get to ordering.

I used the teflonlines for fuel but went a different route for power steering. I bought the fittings so I have 6an male on the box and pump n then had napa build me a Hydraulic hose with 6an ends. Hose is good for 4000 psi....jut another option.

Sorry to bump this, but wouldn't you know...the fitting going into my box is freaking 7/16. Needless to say, I can't find anyone who makes a -6AN to 7/16 inverted flare fitting.

Suggestions?
