The tube part seems straightforward but how did you cut and weld the dipstick itself? Do you have any picts of where you cut it and re-welded?

so i realized after i typed this that you might not have cut and welded the stick back together (your picts were deceiving but i think you said you took them before you made any modifications). I ended up just shortening mine and making a high and low notch on the side.

Use a coarse thread drain plug when threading into aluminum.

An Oringed bolt or an oring washer and don't over tighten.

There are lots of OEM drain plugs that fit this description.

I don't know that I would chance it on running that much less oil in your engine. You may want to shop around for a different oil pan like at Jegs or Summit Racing.
