4.8 LSx turbo swap into 1991 300zx Z32
Here is the pile with the first swap back in 2003. Got a wild hair and threw it together in a few weeks out of a 10'x20' apartment garage lol.
This is the SR20DET swap back in 2007 I think. It was fun, not enough torque.
This is the swap back to the LT1. I took a different approach this time and went at it with a BFH, welder and a saw. Look at the attached link for the whole project http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/7134...to-a-z32-more/
This is what it looked like before the LT1 came out for the last time.
Now on to the LSx swap.
I started out with the mindset I was going to keep the carb but that quickly changed when I realized it was just not gonna work due to height restrictions and I really wanted to go for more of a subtle look this go around.
Making some room so I could keep my transmission position.
Yeah that's not gonna work.
Time to make some mounts.
On to filling the hole I made
A little sanding and grinding.
Amazing what a little paint and filler does.
This is how it sits as of now. I'm working on putting together the rest of the parts and getting the oil pan finished up so I can drop the LS in to finish up the turbo kit.
I was happy to see all of the other z32 conversions going on and it inspired me to share my project. I'll keep this thread updated as the progress continues.

They are the trans-dapt universal mounts. They are nice and well built. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/trd-4501

Nice build, I'm also glad to see another LSx Z32 swap!
I was going to use the same mounts for mine but didn't want to weld them into the car, I might steal your idea of welding them to a plate then bolting them to the car, good job.

Damn alot of guys swapping LSx into the Z32 all of a sudden! Car looks great man. Alot of work went into your firewall and trans tunnel. Im going to be doing a single turbo to my LS1/T56 300zx over the summer.
