Straight thermostat housing found
Has anybody used a t-stat housing from a Ford windstar? I have one on my 5.3 using a thermostat from a 2005-? Corvette. I did have to remove the rubber seal and used a regular gasket. I haven't ran it yet so I'm not certain how it will work but everything looks like it should.
Just wondering if anybody else had tried one yet. Btw it's off of a 2002 3.8, not sure what years are the same.

I'll try to get a pic if needed but mine is like the short one in the link that aknovaman posted.
I've already had the car started very briefly without coolant. Hoping to add coolant and run it long enough to warm it up and test everything.
I'll post here with how the t-stat works.

I don't see any reason it wouldnt work as long as you're using an '05 or newer water pump. Thethermostat housing is seperate from the thermostat so all it has to do is hold it in and not leak. The older pumps that have the integrated thermostat and housing have a different size hole in the pump so it probably won't work with them.

Got the car started today with coolant. I let it get to about 210, turned the fans on and the temp came down to around 190 and stayed there. It looks like it's gonna work but we'll see this summer. I'm using a Griffin radiator for a '66-'67 Chevelle, fans from Grand Am (don't remember what year) and water pump from an '02 Camaro (ACDELCO Part # 252846). I did have to put the coolant in through the top radiator hose to fill the engine.

Sounds like I need an '02 Camaro pump?
