DBW swap info please
Okay guys... Hopefully an easy question for y'all...
I'm looking into getting a 1995 K1500 with, I believe, an NV3500 5 speed. I've also lined up a 5.3L Vortec from a 2003 Silverado for dirt cheap...
My question is this:
I believe the 2003's were drive by wire.. So which is easier... Convert the truck to DBW, or convert the engine to drive by cable.
Keeping in mind, I would be keeping the stock 5.3L intake and throttlebody.
Thanks in advance for the help guys!

okay... trying to do as much research as I can on all this first... So if i'm understanding everything correctly, I at least need the following:
the engine (duh)
the harness (reworked)
Fuel pump (higher pressure)
the TAC module
Gas pedal
Wiring from pedal to TAC
Obviously just the basics... but am I right to assume that with all that, I can make it run?

You will have to have the PCM flashed for a manual trans, but the dbw is pretty easy. If you are reworking the harness get the harness with the PCM and TAC module together then all you have to do is mount the pedal. DBW makes cruise control easier and you won't have to swap throttle bodies. The only advantage of cable is for a tranny that needs a detent cable, and dbw doesn't always open the throttle body directly to the amount you press the pedal so it might seem delayed.
