2007 Kia Sorento - 6.0L Ly6 Vortec

Love it. Can't wait to possibly encounter this one on the street. I'll be the one failing miserably at keeping up in my Hamsterbox.
When it's done you should bring it in to KoB or Doraty and tell them the engine sounds a bit loud

Awesome swap.
Had a 2007 Kia Sportage, one of the best cars I've ever owned. Zero issues in 90k miles until some old lady t-boned it. Only car that never went to the dealer for anything. Bought a new Hyundai Santa Fe to replace it and so far so good.

Cool swap. I worked at a KIA dealership in 2005 in sales. Sorrento's are sturdy vehicles, but with the 3.5l, they were anemic and got poor gas mileage. Some dealerships would report vehicles as sold (like to an employee), to hit certain sales levels which increase the factory to dealer incentives. Then they have to be sold as used or name change vehicles, and you end up with only 60k bumper to bumper (as 100k powertrain is not transferable).
Wonder if there is a full time AWD diff for the front axle that you could use. Could get expensive though, cuz you'd also have to do a turbo!

Thanks for the replies guys. Your support is appreciated and surprising too. You f-ers are a damn good bunch! LoL.
Sorry for not keeping up to date. I wish I was further along. The oil pan issue was a setback. I found it hard to spend almost 500 for a pan set. Tat is crazy. I just waited and trolled the web. Finally I landed a GTO pan, pickup, and bondage tray for 90$ shipped!!! No joke.
That was a hurdle. So I put it on and checked the clearance. The Damn diff is still in the way. However, unlike the rear sump pans, this pan can be relieved slightly to clear. The rear pans hit everything. Diff, tube, steering rack, lines, etc. This pan only caught the top corner of the diff.
Here are some pics to walk through the pan, marking off, relief, and rebuild templates.
Some Shots from underneath and under the diff
Here is the diff clearance from the front.....
New pan layout template in cardboard and duct tape... The tape should just work by itself right? Who needs to weld in new aluminum!??!

Last night I spent sitting on the fender soldering in all the wire interconnects. The Kia harness is integrated now except for fuel pump and main power relay. They both use a PNP triggered relay (12v + to turn on) the Kia uses a NPN (0v to turn on). So I have to throw in a couple relays to switch over the relay. No biggie. I have a couple Fiero fan relays. They come in pairs and are mounted to a bracket that bolts on firewall.
The Kia uses throttle by wire also so I just used its OEM 6 wires. I will change pedal plug or modify the POT on the pedal. Would have been cool if I could have used the Kia pedal complete but it uses different signal voltage. Kia system is more intelligent honestly. 2 different ranges that are monitored rather then 2 identical ranges.

Hey guys... Pretty slow on the updates. I just finished the wiring harness. I went to the Doctors and then was admitted into the hospital on July 3rd for a bad case of Vertigo. Over the past month and a half I have been poked, prodded, tested, checked, spinal tapped and more. I went to Neurologists at the Cleveland Clinic and ENT specialists there too. No one knows whats causing it. They were hoping it was viral, since a viral infection can cause symptoms like that. However, they normally go away after a few weeks at worst. I haven't been so lucky.
As you can imagine, this has slowed progress down and hit me financially too. I was the bread-winner for the family. Also as simple as it seems for those UN-deserving people to collect money to help out... Its NOT easy for someone who WAS a hard working person, that had a tragic situation, to collect ANYTHING. Talk about BS
I have had some time to do a few things though. I finished the wiring harness for the engine. I have most of the stuff figured out. I do need the power steering lines (i have a buddy with a parker hydro machine that can make them), correct water pump (2010 Camaro), finish welding the oil pan, figure out coolant hoses after i get the pump, trans cooler lines, and drive shaft.
The harness all done, just needs loomed... I am tracing the harness onto some peg board and putting in hooks so i can remake the harness again just by hanging wires on the hooks. Should be an easy way to duplicate the harness.
Its a big list but I have a pretty good idea how to take care of it all.
I am on a few facebook pages. One one of them "LSx Parts Sell and Trade" has a monthly photo contest. The most liked photo becomes the header page photo for the month. They start the contest at 24 hours... At the 4th hour I tossed up a couple pics of the LSx Sorento. In 4 hours it had over 160 likes and dominated the competition. Here is the pages new header... MUAHAHAH
Here is a picture of my speed in gears with the Sorento 3.333 axle ratio and the kick-*** 6L90 trans...
Oh yeah... I made this video because I got called out on photoshop and or fakery on the pictures. It also details the swap, status, and how I am doing a few things.

Thanks man... Its coming along... Still have a few parts that I need to get the whole medical issue has caused a little speed bump. Nothing impossible.
I am looking at options to use the 4x4 trans as 2wd for now so i dont have to try and buy a transfer case. The Magna case that goes with that trans isnt cheap. Perhaps a custom adapter for the transfer case mount that has a yoke in it..

2 Manifolds come to mind when looking at the driver's side header and steering shaft issue. I'm not totally sure the f-body manifold will cure your issue, I think you need to take advantage of the space behind the manifold, rather than coming down where that last runner in, you need it to point out towards the rear of the vehicle, and you can clear the steering easily. The 2 manifolds would be a LS6 CTS-V and 4.8/5.3/6.0 truck manifold, which may need to be modified a little bit.
