Thunderbolt! My LS3 V8 Miata build
#142
Great built and huge thanks for documenting it so well!!! I'm planning to do a similar build, but most likely with a NC Miata (2006+). How did you deal with the OBDII port? Did you re-wire it to the GM ECU, or did the GM wiring include the OBD port? Before I start my build I want to ensure I have a clear registration/emissions plan as I live in the seattle area, which has rules moving towards California.

Hello All!
I just wanted to thank everyone who has been checking out my videos and replying to this thread. I guess I no longer get post notifications, so my apologies for not replying to your comments here- I'll keep a closer eye on things.
I hope to put together a "one year update" video on Thunderbolt soon, so be on the lookout for that one. I drive it once or twice a week and it is an extremely fun and reliable beast. I've been racking up the miles and the only wrenching required has been oil changes and double checking bolts here and there, none of which have come loose or anything weird. You just start it up and go wherever you want! Even after a full year, my pulse races when I think about going for a drive.
I know y'all want to see me testing Thunderbolt under various conditions, but with a recent newborn, just getting out of the house is like navigating a gymkhana course. In the meantime, here's a couple of pictures from my recent road trip to the "Tail of the Dragon" to attend Miatas at The Gap, which was fantastic as usual. Thanks again and good luck with your projects!

Hi All!
Here's a little video update on how things have been going with Thunderbolt over the last two years:
Oh and I don't think this picture needs an explanation of any sort.
Thanks for checking it out!

It's been a long time since I've worked on a Miata, and I had one in the shop the other day. I can't even imagine that thing with 525 horsepower!
The Cars and Coffee Reactions were great.
