Questions on swapping a 6.0 into 2010 silverado
Hi guys,
sorry this isn't a build thread but will put one on if the project materializes. I'm interested in putting a 5.3-6.2 ls and automatic transmission in a 2010 Silverado 2wd that is currently equipped with the 4.3 vortec.
My main question or where I would like to know where to get started in my accumulation of parts would be: "can I use a complete motor/trans (I.e. H/c/I lq9 or 5.3/ mated to 4l60e) with ecu/TCU matching motor and transmission used (99-2003ish Silverado or van) or do I source a harness/computer/TCU from a 2010 Silverado that was stock equipped with a 5.3 v8 and plug and play with sourced motor combo and go with a professional hptuners tune over the new 2010 5.3 ecu?"
Ideally I'm thinking the way to approach will be:
Stock 6.0 with torquer v3 and ported 5.3 heads with stock ls2 truck intake and tb. Mated to a 4l60 or 65e with semi build (sunshell, planetary, servo etc..) and small converter (3200)
Then source the complete front drive accessories, ecu,TCU, engine harness, trans harness from a stock 07-13 5.3 truck. I would need the motor mounts and the a/c lines if I want to do a/c
This will hopefully lead to more questions and conversations but wanted to see the input and feedback before regurgitating any more.
Thanks again!

Or what about a complete 07-14 l92/6l80e. If I could source the complete motor and trans drop out with harness and computers (TB and pedal too) should I do that?
Or would sourcing the 2010 5.3 harness and computers and attaching that to whatever motor / trans combo I go with be the easiest?

Your talking 2 different generation motors there gen 3 for a 2003 , and gen 4 for a 2010 , so when acquiring a transplant its best to get as much as you can , engine-trany- wire harness-computer , from the donor

Yeah but in theory the "generation" of motor shouldn't matter. I'm not looking at making it OEM. I'm looking for a 400-430 rwhp setup.
Accessory drive, ecu, harness etc I can understand if that needs to come from a 2010 Silverado with OEM equipped 5.3 but I would prefer to not be forced to used a 2010 5.3 motor.
Being from Detroit I can source a gen 3 iron 6.0 shortblock and build a motor for under $2000 which is less then what a 2007+ drop out would cost - and I can reach my HP expectations. Tbss 2wd 4l65e trans and afternarket converter would be $1000 - then a complete front accessory drive, engine harness with computer, trans harness with computer, and motor mounts from a 2007+ 5.3 Silverado and I would be able I have it in and installed.
At this point I would run in to getting the vehicle key to work with a new ECU but stock bcm
Can anyone explain the best way turn my OEM 4.3 2010 Silverado into a v8?
