My Drag week 2015 ride
This will be my second year. The combination was a LM7 with triple 12 cam,BTR springs, head studs, LS1 intake, 80lb injectors,72mm Magnum on pump gas and Alky Control Methanol .. Last year I ran Daily driver. I was in 3rd place for first couple days.. dropped to 11th on 3rd day and finished 10th out of 121 cars. Video of all the passes made during the week and details about dropping a few spots. Basically, i ran the car low on fuel and it leaned out. Faulty fuel gauge and i was really tired by the time we got to race...
Fast forward to this year.. I decided to register again! Class is now called Street Machine eliminator. Cannot turn in a pass quicker than 10.00. With this quicker ET I knew i needed to step it up a little. I found a LQ4, freshened bottom end, JFR 218 Cam, BTR springs, 317 were CNC`d at Texas Speed.
I went with a truck intake this time and larger intercooler. I also made the switch to the Holley Dominator system. I am using a Boost leash for boost control and Alky control Methanol system. Fuel tank was upgraded to a stainless unit from Ricks Tanks in El Paso. Dual 450`s. Both controlled with the Holley through a Leash Electronics 2 relay box.
I have 50 days left till the event. Plumbing of the IC and wiring are the two major objectives. They should both be done in the next two weeks.
Trans is a built 4L60, Circle D converter. Rear end is from Quick performance with detroit locker and 3.50 gears.
Car weighs in around 3620, is NHRA legal to 10.00 .. Lots of pictures to follow..

The patina on your car is perfect, and the rest of the build looks very clean.
I will be your "competition" in street machine this year at dragweek, though I know our car wont keep up with you (its currently ford powered). We are just out to make it through the week (first year in the event).

Thanks man! 53-54 chevy 2 doors are really good starting point for a car to build. The two years the parts interchange. they are still reasonably priced. Several companies make suspension and engine mounts for them so that part is taken care of.. no fabbing needed. Most everything else is up to your imagination and fab skills
