Default Keith's 65 Impala Upgrade

A little background on Keith and his car.........In June I took the Impala Convert and went to a car show in Union Grove........when I parked I was met by some friends and we talked for a 1/2 hour......I noticed a guy standing behind my car waiting for us to finish talking.......when they left he came over and asked me if I was Ken......LOL........Ended up that Keith followed every build that is posted on these sites.....We had just finished Gary's car and he knew everything about the build and knew everything about the Impala Convert also........Holy Cow.......We talked about the transformation of Gary's car and how he was in Awe of the new drivetrain over the old Big Block.......We talked about the conversion for about a 1/2 hour..........Fast forward about two weeks and I got to a little car show in Milwaukee and end up parking next to Keith.....He had a 65 Impala wagon at the Union Grove show but brought his 65 Impala hardtop to this show.......We got to talking and he told me he would love to duplicate the drivetrain in Gary's car in this car........Due to some Physical Limitations he was unable to complete this process himself........
To make a long story short.......Some of his friends removed the old drivetrain and parts not required and I gave him a list of parts to order and the car showed up today with the parts.........So.....Put the Pop corn on as it will be an Honor to help Keith out.......

Here is the car arriving today.....

The gears started turning today......Decided to get the old heater assy out and start to get the new A/C unit installed......Had to pull the inner fender panel out and heaven forbid........I found Dust on the inner panel,.........Sheesh !!!........Had to stop and clean it before reassembly.......Got the old unit out and added a new switch to the controller along with new cables........Then I got the new unit bolted into place and decided it was time to come in from the heat and take a Nap !!!!

The heat? Really? LOL....

Ken, you should have been there when I went to the Pull-A-Part in Birmingham. It was 3:00pm on a day when the high was 99 degrees...and 80% humidity...

Ken,

You should think about using a II Much fuel vent on your builds.

I am planning on installing on in the Cougar soon.

Andrew...any idea why the two vents are $100 different? Seems odd. I wouldn't mind putting one in the goat. The filling process for this car sucks.86th

Ken,
Really admire (and envy) your builds! Thanks for the posts. I'm living vicariously a bit as I'm between projects with my swap completed and also out of garage extra space. My wheels turn when your builds progress!

I installed this long tank breather with inexpensive air filter atop and get no vapor smell in the garage nor trouble when filling. With the braided hose and AN fitting, probably $40 worth. Nice breather product though! I'm assuming a vent similar to mine could be threaded in a car / wagon application into a wheel well or trunk cavity so the filter is above the tank level.

If this info dilutes your build thread here, let me know, I'll delete the post.

Earl's makes a really nice one with metal retaining clips (needs a simple tool to remove and it has a secondary retention clip.

I believe they are functionally identical. The difference is in the way they are installed. The more expensive one has a fancy base and a large threaded collar and is made to mount directly to the trunk floor. The less expensive one has exposed plumbing and is made to mount somewhere else in the trunk (but the brass vent still needs to be plumbed outside the trunk).
