Silly question ~ can I keep stock tbi with an LS?
Flame suit on. Just wondering, could I change the intake on an ls and use my stock tbi assembly? Considering a swap on my 1990 K5. Wondering if this might simplify things. Also kinda like the simplicity of tbi. I searched and couldn't find any info on the topic so I'm assuming there's a glaring reason to not do this, likely due to ease of just doing it the normal way and lack of benefits either tbi. Tell me.

You could, but why on earth would you want to. You need an intake...and an ignition box...
Besides, I doubt the tbi will support the HP level of even a stock 4.8L

Yes you could,, There are actually some fairly successful TBI setups,,
You'd have to buy the right intake to accept the TBI throttle body.
You will max out the fuel flow unless you buy custom injectors..
The basic throttle body is small, you'd want the big one off the big block and
mate it to a aftermarket manifold.
Then your trying to run coil-on-plug instead of a distributor,, you'd need a box for that.
I'd go with the whole LS package and just get used to it, its no more complicated than the TBI setup.
a BUNCH of the magic in the LS series engines is the package of the ECU/intakes/injection etc..
You'll never get the gas mileage out of the TBI that the stock LS motors make..
Good lick and show us some pics! Love the old K5s

Agree with the others, there's no point.
My '87 was always low on power, and no one nearby could properly troubleshoot a TBI anymore. I realized that if I was going to keep the TBI system, I'd have to learn myself how it worked and how to diagnose it.
If I was going to go to that kind of trouble, I figured I might as well learn a LSx instead of a TBI.
