Default Automatic transmission temperature guage placement

2 questions
1- I'm putting my transmission temperature gauge in the cooling line. Should I put probe before or after cooler ?
2- on a 4l80e what line is wich comming out of transmission case ? Is the back line in and the front line out ? ( cooler lines )

On my 4l60e there is a bolt/fitting on the drivers side of the trans case, I removed that and put my sender there. Not sure if the 80 has that or not just another option for you.

Put it before the cooler, you want to know how hot your trans is, not how cool the fluid is....
