98 mustang LS swap w/ 7875 turbo
Sold my last project and now I'm on too the next one. Going to be a similar build but I'm making some changes this go around. Learning from a few mistakes.
Car is a 98 mustang GT. Currently has a 4.6 with auto trans with 140k Miles. Runs and drives. Got the engine/ trans up for sale.
Ordered AJE tubular k member, motor mounts and perch mounts. Billet 7875 vs racing turbo. 80lb injectors. Everything to build hotside. All kinds of things lol.

Picked up my engine today. 01 5.3 with 120k. A mid 90s model 4l80e with a stick converter. The wiring harness and a flex plate with the spacer. $900. It wasn't too dirty but I didn't take a before and after shot of the engine or trans. Also had my subframe connectors and that beautiful 7875 waiting on the steps when I got home from getting the engine 😁

Went to Change the cam tonight and ran into a little issue. After I got the cam swapped and the timing chain back on I turned the crank with a wrench to make sure everything rotated nice and easy. Well....it didn't. After 30 min or so of messing with it I decided to pull the damn heads...not something I was wanting to do but there was sefidefini something not right. Well after pulling the passenger side head the issue was still there. I could rotate the crank essile until a certain spot then it would get hard. Same issue as before that I didn't really elaborate on. So off comes the other head. When I pulled that one there was a lot more carbon build up on the Piston and it had pulled up and that's what was causing the issue. While spinning the engine over by hand when that Piston came up to TDC all that carbon was piled up and was getting compressed causing the tough spot. So now I get to buy new head gaskets and while I'm there I migjt buy new lifters. What you guys think???? 01 lifters ever have any issues?

Ordered some China head studs and some mls gaskets.
anyone ever use the MLS gaskets made specific for the early 862 heads with the notch? Also read that the early heads were not milled as smooth as the later years and MLS gaskets have a hard time dealing. Anyone have experience with this?

Victor reinz make a set at advance auto o use them on my 853 with the notch at 18psi no water so I'm happy and I ran a wire wheel across my heads to knock off the carbon and old gasket material so they probably don't seal as good as a nice machined head surface
