I need to get an inter cooler coming, what is good to use and what is to be avoided. If you have had great luck with a low price unit I'd like to hear. My setup is headed toward 650 to 750 rwhp with lots a street driving. Still my toy car but I hope to get a good bit of use out of it playing on the street. I had mocked one up many years ago while building a tube chassis 79 coupe and there was some pictures on a mustang forum, I still get calls today asking about it there was ever one made available. I was thinking about crash cars at that time.

I have pondered for years how I could sell a bolt on kit but always worked from the firewall forward in my mind. I am considering using my car for the proto of a bolt on version of this setup. Still a little tricky but since it is not carrying any read load other than fenders and nose, it is plausible. Just needs to aid in impact.

Nice, I used to play that game but it is probably too much for my street toy But with that said if you change your mind I'll give you $20 bucks for it. !!!

That front end assembly i cut off weighed 41 1/2 pounds don’t know how much the tubing I’m going back with will weigh but can advise. Got the first cap plate welded in. Had a lt of errands to run today so in and out of the shop. Better get back at it.

Only had about 4 hours today and some bruised ribs killing me but got to here so far... Got the open structure closed out and tubing waiting, gotta dig out the bender in the morning. My plan is the tube from each landing pad forward like the available kits do. I also want to drop a 1" tube from one to the other back by and along the angled steel where I cut of the aprons. Wide open spaces. My poor old man back is living on aleeve today Seems what was a 4-6 hour deal when I was 20 years old has turned into a 2 day deal.

I really like the work. Going to see how long it takes me and maybe offer it as a service in my shop going forward.

Made it a little further here the first half of the day. Takes a little time to consider where everything will go and planning. Now that I am this far, I am going to put a couple risers from those frame rails up underneath the headlight buckets to bolt them to and then take out the rest of the hard black plastic between the headlights. more room is just more options.

Since this is a street car and I plan on wanting to put miles on it w/o problems I went out on a limb and ordered the Hooker Manifolds to give a try. I think they might be more robust long term than making up a set of stock cast iron manifolds and exhaust tubing to home brew my own deal. Kinda hat this cause I like making but ?? Trying to decide on turbo so I can order a FLANGE and the rest of the hot side weld up stuff. Is a T6 family turbo a slam dunk ??? if so,..... Borg Warner divided style or Garrett Undevided ??

Trying to decide on what turbo.... BOV .....and WG to put on it. Help !! Precision ls series 75.76 ,, borg s475 from ?? VSracing billet 80 ? S480. $less $ better !! but $1000 max. for turbo. Tonight is order parts night again...

My criteria is
#1 Needs to be streetable and to drive with 400 or 4l80E and single digit boost, be able to crank up the boost and throw down at track days a few times a year.
#2 Have a 98k L33 combo with a sloppy stg (2) 228/230-585 cam and pac 1218 springs, holley hi ram and 92mm tb, but this may very well go to a 370 to 400 ci combo after a year so and I'd rather over buy now than buy twice. Already wishing I would of got the ljms stg 2, oh well. Cam swaps are easy.

What do you guys think...

Added these late two for now tubes back at the aprons, I think it is a finished look and it ties the whole tower to all the new tubing. Do you guys think I should add some diagonals in from low back bottom rail to mid upper rail. I kind of hate to but it would look more substantial. I may wait even if I do in case I need to work around some exhaust. I like it so far. Still asking about turbo choices below !!!

I like the downward bar tying the top and bottom together. Your right, it finishes the look at the shock towers

sorry I have no input on the turbo stuff, mines all China man stuff to get me up and going for now and eventually upgrade as money allow

. I would for sure go with a t6 flange though for your hotside that seems to be what the majority of the non low low budget turbos are

I am looking at the VS racing stuff, on3 as well and the LS series Precision turbo $995 deal at the top end. I think I could make more power with the VS billet 80 than that precision for less. What turbo did you go with and what BOV and WG ??

eBay gt45, 2 38mm tial knock off wastegates, and eBay 50mm bov.

surprisingly it all works lol. I didn’t make big hp on the dyno bc my iat’s were so high but it got me into the high 10s. Hopefully low 10s come this Friday

the only one thing I have noticed with my set up is it seems like my wastegate springs seem like they are weakening. With my turbonetics manual boost controller turned off and on 8psi spring it will only push 2-3psi. With my boost controller set to where it is now it’s running around 12psi though. I will upgrade to real tials before next season.

Hey Thanks for all that, Saved me a bunch of re-reading you build for hours again I the Edge is open I may come over and watch and check you car out. My car came with a red rear spoiler as well for some reason, I will brine it with me if I make it over there in case you would want it. No need here. I am kind of wandering if that Cobra nose has any extra intercooler room inside of it, Any Idea ?

Yeah man stop out and check it out if your there.

I liked the cobra bumper exposed more of my Intercooler. The way I have my Intercooler piping routed it won’t allow me to run the fog light bezels.

Yeah man id check out that wing. Mines plastidipped bc the clear coat was peeling so bad, looks ok though

Hooker manifolds came in today, short version is they weight 10 lbs more than stock truck manifolds. Included was mostly bolts and nuts, heat insulation for plug wires and a 8x10" flat shield and v-bands and clamps.

Surprised at the few pictures and info online about the Hooker Turbo Manifolds so here is a few of it in mock-up before removing.
