Default Stand Alone Harness Question (Mystery Wire)

So this harness has been running as a stand alone in another swap car, but i was going through it and re-doing the routing and loom. Then i found this Resistor? and one wire is cut, while the other runs back into the main harness. This was wrapped in with all the grounds in the passenger bank of injector and coil wires.

Looks like the harness and computer are out of a 2004 GTO LS1.

Im sure im not searching it correctly but i cant seem to find anything about this thing.

What is it? Do i need it? Can i remove it all? Etc...

Thanks
.

thats a diode symbol. it's likey to prevent flyback voltage from going up to something sensitive....what was it connected to?

maybe just there to prevent a ground loop float too

One end was cut and taped up, i'll need to tear back more tape to find the other end. Its by all the other grounds on the back of the passenger head so possibly there?

yeah see where it goes. it could be part of a 2 step or a transbrake circuit that's no longer hooked up

The one side is a solid green wire like a normal 12v power wire, but it goes to the other bank of injectors and is cut. The side thats cut right at the diode is black and red like the other grounds.

I may have found it. It only shows the green wire side, but it is the only diode i can find in the wiring diagrams.

I agree with your diagnosis, the AC line typically has a diode in line to keep the coil that engages the clutch from feeding back on the circuit.
