Re buildign FWD Rear Tandem
Rebuilding a heavy truck rear end with power divider and traction lock
Counter fit ring gear and Pinion NOS $1,850,00 FWD wanted $35,000 for one and three months to build it .. I paid $750.00 each for two sets of 6:14 gears for a 34,000 pound Eaton Tandem to replace 7:17 gears ...

I did a swap in my 79 six or seven years ago, and used an oil pan out of a CTS-V. It fits great, but sits about 3/8"-1/2" below the cross member. At the time, that was the pan that was recommended to me as it holds 6 quarts of oil compared to the f-body's 5, and supposedly the windage tray is better. I have never had an issue with mine, but I know other people that have bottomed out and broken the oil pan, and damaged the engine. (not in a 2nd gen, but in general) I will be replacing the engine in mine in the next weeks and am considering switching to the f-body pan. If I didn't already have a pan, I would get the f-body pan for sure, as it sits just above the cross member.
