On the sixth day of Christmas I got fire. I've never used the ceramic boot plug wire, but they seemed like a great addition. The 45° boots should keep the wires away from the header tubes. Fun fact, it seems that David Freiburger was the first to suggest ceramic boot plug wires.

There's a certain irony or, perhaps, paradox that Mr. Freiburger, king of the zip-tie-motor-mounts would suggest something as sensible as ceramic plug boots. I'd have expected he'd simply re-purpose the aluminum foil he used to cook a bit of Road Kill on top of the engine....or some such thing.

Many of his antics are for entertainment purposes only. He can and has built nice cars, but RoadKill is RoadKill...LOL

On the seventh day of Christmas, we got Johnny.

Johnny was brought to the KC Pet Project as a stray. He is a Great Dane Lab mix and is estimated to be about 11 months old. He is currently 50 pounds, but should be about 70 pounds. We are currently fostering him, but that may play out a different way.

Merry Christmas Eve day Everyone!

He is modestly well behaved, but clearly not trained. Let's just say we are happy to have hardwood floors. But everything in due time.

Don't think I could foster, would want to keep all! Hat's off to you for getting involved.

Roadkill sort of promotes "Get it on the road, never mind safety" mentality. Younger crowd will start believing it. Next is Street Outlaw, now turned into Orange County Choppers. Enough off topic, have a wonderful Christmas everyone and eat lots.

Andrew,
Are you keeping the manual or switching to an auto?

When I built my 71 Chevelle (LS2/TKO600) in 2010, I modelled it after your 2.0 build: Edelbrock adapters, Edelbrock headers, and Autokraft pan.

For my 72 Chevelle wagon I'm building now (6.0/4L80e), I've got the Holley forward mounts, 302-2 pan and about to pull the trigger on the Terminator X Max also.

I've considered doing the holley upgrades on my 71, but have been thinking about actually selling the car instead. Just don't drive it much with it only sitting 4. We haven't taken it out on any family cruises/trips since my daughter was born 6 years ago.

The wagon has 3rd row seating, so hopefully I get it finished before the kids are too old (13, 11, and 6 now).

Good luck with the build and keep those posts coming.

I agree. I think the original intent of RoadKill was to get people motivated to complete, drive and enjoy the junk they've got, not waste time or die trying to make it perfect for everyone else or attain 1000HP on a non-track car for no good reason. The bits of the original season or two I've seen appeared to be just that. Much of the rest seemed staged and littered with sponsors seeking product placement. Honestly it didn't do much for me as I've flown the "build what you got now so you can and enjoy driving it" flag for more years than I can remember so I don't need motivation.

Nice collection of parts Andrew. I was following along and thought I understood where you were going on this but I'm not sure exactly how the dog will make the engine run better.

I am planning on staying with a manual transmission, although I will be changing the current Richmond transmission for something a little more modern!

I technically did not need the Terminator X MaX and could have converted to a cable throttle body, but I am a big fan of DBW, and the GTO already has a gas pedal fitted. The other reason to go with the Terminator X Max with a manual transmission is that it makes connecting the VSS output much easier. Most modern transmission vehicle speed sensors are VR style (2 wires) and this type of input can be easily integrated with the Terminator X Max, but not the Terminator X. I like having a vehicle speed input to the ECU because it can then be used as part of the control strategy for the engine as well as for cooling fans.

You're in KC now? Be sure to hit the Magic Dragon Car show at Lake Ozark this spring. And if you're selling the Richmond 6 speed, let me know. I'm missing the one I had in my 68 vette.

I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas! Ours was uneventful and spending lots of time with Johnny.

The parts collection continues with the Hooker LS swap mounts for GM A-bodies. These are the 1" forward mounts that allow for a little more transmission tunnel clearance. GM A-bodies have notoriously small transmission tunnels which makes fitting modern transmission somewhat of a challenge.

The heavy duty, bolt together clam shells are also a nice touch. These are basically 4th gen F-body mounts, the the replacement mounts from Anchor have a tendency to break, as I have found out on the Cougar.

The mounting system allows for low engine placement in the front crossmember, which really helps with driveline angles, especially if the rear ride height is lowered.
