The LS1 is better than the 2JZ OR the 2JZ is better because...

Haha the guys that started this thread is amazing! Lol. I can see him sat at his PC laughing at all the people trying to argue about what is best. Think I’m going to start a thread along the lines of "chalk or cheese, which is best???" lol.
But just to add some fire to the argument what about the 1UZ-FE motor compared to the LS1/2/6/7?? I have heard of guys pushing over 2000bhp form the 1UZ-FE’s with a lot of boost!
Thanks Chris

I prefer LS1 for 1/4 mile. It's simply not going to be easy to beat a a4 z28 with a decent cam, headers, nitrous,a stall, and drag radials.. which no matter how you add it up is going to be a nice 10 second pass.
It's simply not anywhere near cheap to run 10's in a supra like it is $2500 cheap in an a4 z28.
An m6 is a different animal... just the rearend alone is more than the rest of the mods.
In any event, more torque, less boost, more overall capable power, lesser octane for same power level, similar gas milage, less weight, and likely easier to 60'.
From a highway roll and from a stop, the cheaper and more capable choice would be an LSx based engine. Stock short block maybe stouter in Supra, but if you are building a fast car, you won't have stock short block anyhow. Besides, typically, you can run reliably run mid-high 9's on the factory ls1 shortblock, which is likely not far off the stock shortblock Supra.. dyno racing aside.
Peace,
Josh

God knows a stall and a cam don't cost that much money and wouldn't put you there Well, not without a few more supporting mods and some weight reduction, anyhow.
I actually bought all the parts to do it to my 2000.. a tnt kit, ss3600 stall, 224/228 cam, and a nice set of headers, with some et street's.. never put it in.. ended up selling it all due to frustration of a sponsor ripping me off and the desire to become a home owner.
But, I did purchase all the parts easily for under $2000.. $700 for the stall, the rest was used. The kit had a digital controller, dual exit purge, bottle warmer, etc. The cam came with valvesprings, and the headers had y pipe.
Installation, is of course free.. and I had hp tuners for tuning which would normally cost a few hundred.
Would it run 10's? Possibly.. No way of knowing.
Have other's ran 10's? A heck of a lot of times. It's a cheap way to outrun a lot of cars dollar for dollar in the 1/4.
I do like Supra's, don't get me wrong. I've seen some sick one's.. but I think in the end it's easier to make power with more cubes. The same can be said of the Supra in comparison to a Honda.
Later,
Josh

slow4dr, nice build mate! that intercoolers looks BIG!
Josh, nice words to mate! i really dont get why people hate fast cars just cos they are made by a diffrent company. i know everyone has a favorite car company and they tend to focus on them, but a fast car is a fast car! lol
thanks Chris.

you cant even compair that, the 2jz is in profuction in at least 15 different cars and different chasies....so that makes your statement null and void, you have supras, chasers, mark II's, soarer's, and many more...we didnt see the cars with the good engines over here, and its a never ending debate...they are both bad *** motors and depending what your plans are they both have thier place...iam chosing an ls1 for price and the fact i dont have to run race gas...and low end torque is key for coming out of a turn...

I was debating whether I was going to change the 10's to 11's like I did or just add N20 and leave the 10's.

The car looks nothing that now but it was fun while it lasted. The intercooler was from Banks for a 6.0 Ford Powerstroke that I cut a bunch of rows off of. A little massaging to the core support and it fit in there perfectly.

The way that I would say to find out which engine is better is take one of each and put them in the same weight car with the same everything except for the engine and see who gets from a to b first. That would be the only way, and my thought on that is that the LSX has a better powerband and would win. But I give respect where respect is due and I tell you what... the 2jz has earned alot of it.
