New LS Swap book- Need some pics
Hello all,
I am in the process of writing an LS swap book for CarTech Books. I am looking for some unique cars to feature in the book that have completed and in progress swaps. I need hi-res images for the book. If you have a project that you would like to be considered for the book, please send me the following:
Lead shot of the car (shrunk pics for email, will get hi-res when chosen)
build up story- include why you built it, when and how. Please mention interesting stories such as difficult parts of the build, failures, successes, etc. Basically things that would be helpful\interesting to the readers.
List of components used in the swap
List of available pics of the vehicle. I would like to have in-progress pics as well as completed pics. The cars do not have to be finished, an LS sitting in the frame of a Volvo or Crosley is pretty cool, and might be book worthy. That said, I have plenty of Camaros with LS engines. Sorry, I don't need anymore. But if you have a Merc with an LS7, I want to see it.
Please don't prejudge your car, I want a large pool to select from. I have limited space and can't choose them all, but I need 10-14 cars. I need some unique install shots as well. If you built your own crossmember and motor mounts, let me see 'em.
If you have LS-swap products for sale (or know someone who does) send me that info too, this will be the best opportunity to get some serious exposure for your parts.
Thanks,
Jefferson Bryant

I've got photos of the build up and racing of an 89 IROC, 94 RX7, 89 240SX, and a 86 El Camino that we went racing with.
Many photos here: www.z28evans.com/album & www.bubbadrift.com/album/

I hope there is going to be a chapter on manual trans besides the usual T56. Something like TKO 500/600, Muncie, Richmond, ect. There is lots of "scattered" info out there, and not all of it is, well, correct.

I'm the "it's good enough" back yard guy who built his engine in his dining room and installed the engine and trans in is lawn on plywood haha. I was able to modify the TH400 crossmember to work
Modified crossmember, unpainted, but you can see the welds and such that need to be cut

except the startup was kind of suspenseful.. it was only running on 6 cylinders until I pounded its *** a little and all 8 kicked in and about ripped my head off.. lol..

I've heard everything from, use a stock ls1 flywheel and clutch, to "special" flywheels and clutches, to the Gen 1 bellhousing can't be used because of the "different bolt pattern" to.............what ever. Here is what I ws able to do, and pics in my siggy.
I BOLTED a 1957 Chevy cast iron bellhousing to a 5.3 and then bolted a TKO 500 to it and used the "special" pilot bearing that GM sells, (it's an alternator bearing). Everything bolted up. THE ONLY thing I didn't get to was the flywheel. I'm not spending 300.00 each to compair a stock LS1 f-wheel with an aftermarket f-wheel. But GM has a specific flywheel for old style, read that Muncie/Saginaw, tranny use. Again $300.00. So I stopped, and am going Cadillac 500 power.
