Best Stock Exhaust Manifolds?

Best Stock Exhaust Manifolds?
I have a line on 2 or 3 LSx exhaust manifolds for my G body swap with a 5.3 LM7.
There are the Camaros, Vette and GTO manifolds. (did all have the cats right below them?)
I guess most have used the F bodys. The Vettes look OK but seem to exit quite a bit forward.
The GTOs look good and come out forward of the rear port vs the F body.
So have any used the GTOs and like them over the F bodys?
Thxs!!!!!

I got a killer deal on a set of the GTO manifolds from a member here.
As long as they hug the block a little better I think I will be fine. Didn't need much and these look tight.
Nice thing is the truck only has a single cat with a Y pipe which will be alot easier to do for this Ca ride. Plus the Elky is rated as a truck to making smog easier all the way around.
Any other input is welcome always!!

Nice setup and no smog which I do have to deal with!
I have the GTOs, they tuck in well and are light. Has anyone used them on a G bady before?
I wonder if the F bodys are better flowing.
Other option are the Patriot Mids that look nice with a long collector; http://store.summitracing.com/partde...46%2D1&FROM=MG
Anyone tried those?

6.0 manifolds have 3" exit, where the others are 2.25 or 2.5?
not sure of the year, but i think 04 and newer are the cleaner manifolds to get, no egr.
i had a set of z06(all 01-05 c5) manifolds, and i think they flow the best out of them all. hard it fit item, though.
i didnt pick up much with long tube headers over the manifolds.

I have the 5.3 on it and just measuring it doesn't look good. As well as the forums here say they don't fit.
The 6ltr is only another 45 ci so I doubt they have a special manifold for them or even the 6.2.
Does someone have a set of both the truck and F body they can lay side by side to compare like the oil pan thread?

The truck manifolds do not fit in the G-Body, they truck manifolds hang further off the block than the f-body ones and are too wide for the frame rails.
The 6.0L trucks did use different manifolds that had larger passages, the turbo guys like them for front mount twin setups.
I have a set of truck manifolds laying around that I can measure, but the f-body ones are in my car so I can`t really do a side by side. IIRC I think someone already posted a side by side on here. I`ll see if I can did it up.....if I don`t fall asleep first.

That would be cool. I have gotten alot from you already G Body
As I said I have the GTOs and they would fit with no problems.
The mid headers may fit, trying to get more from the manufacturer now. But then again for a daily driver the GTOs or 6ltr might be better.
I had the 6ltr and traded the truck after 6 months for a Duramax I get 50% better mileage and fuel is 10% more (no brainer) and has more power than anything I have ever driven.

I think almost all of manifolds are cast iron. Have you ever tried to weld cast. Some corvette's had steel

I've got a set of new take off Corvette manifolds if you're interested. They do have AIR, but you'll need a block off plate, as seen in the pictures above. Make an offer.

help! on lm7 in f-body
hey, i put a 05 5.3 in my 77 firebird, and i've been drivin it with the exhaust welded to the stock manifolds, cuz i had to remove the collector part to clear the frame. but it has cracked off twice now, so i tried shorty headers for a truck, but they are too wide, they hit the heater box, and the frame a little, so i tried modifyin them, and they got in the way of the back spark plug wire. so now that i'm suicidal, can any one help me? i've seen some stock steel manifols. is that what i need? or do some cast ones for some car work?
