How low is too low?
Moroso, Champ (Autokraft, CarShop), ATS, and probably a couple of other people all make nice custom pans for the 1st gen Fbody that will clear the stock rear-steer linkage and don't hang down below the crossmember when using any of the common mengine mount adapter plates. S&P sells a cut/welded Fbody pan that also fits. This is all in the 1st gen swap FAQ (see the important threads sticky).
A simple larger rock or brick at highway speeds will take out that pan, happened to a local member in FL, a rock truck, one carrying ornimental rock dropped all kinds on the road toasted the motor, pick a new pan or modify a F body,

I'm still using the truck intake manifold, so if i raise it much higher I'll never get the hood to close.
