How low is too low?

How low is too low?

Just finished bolting in a LQ4 with a 4l60 in my 68 firebird, and my LH8 oil pan is hanging real low, like 4 inches of ground clearance low. Anyone else have their oil pan this low?

That would be a little too low for my tastes with a cast aluminum pan, without anything like a crossmember in front of it.

X2, race car it may be OK but not on a street car

One reason I would never use a truck pan on an A-Body swap. I didn't want any pan to hang below the crossmember, so I went with a stock F-body pan. I think I have ~4" to the bottom of the crossmember.

Probably the same reason I can't even fit a swaybar on mine. Really low.

I have had mine in my 68 Camaro for two years now and it hasnt broken yet but it does have a few scrapes on it

I ended up modifiying my LQ4 truck pan. I tried every GM pan I could get and nothing would fit the first gen and not hang down. The CTS-V was the closest fit but it hit the steering linkage, if you had a rack and pinion it would work.
