swaping as ls in a 97 ta questions

swaping as ls in a 97 ta questions So i have a 97ta and a 98ta parts car. I'm not new to swaps or ls but if youve done this. Do i have to change the dash wiring if i just change the fuel system front to back (will the pump and fuel sender work) and motor wiring under the hood (will my guages all work ie oil, h2o, volts) without frying anything. Will the obd2 port work properly.

It will take some mods but a 98 LS1 into a 97 LT1 is about the easiest. With a basically stock LS1 you can still use your stock LT1 pump and sending unit. I would either use a 97 Vette fual rail with a return (easiest choice) or take the lines off the 98 and make a few mods to use a Vette type fuel filter/ regulator. The three wire temp sensor and the oil pressure sensor on the 98 will work perfectly with the 97 LT1 gauges.
I would get a Helms maunal or pinouts for the connectors on both cars as there are differences and changes need to be made to get everything to work electrical wise.

This is the type of answer i'm looking for. The car is a moded as is heads,cam fule pump, ect... What i'm looking to do is take the motor trany out of the 98 and into the 97 and reuse the 98 k-member and everthing but thats straight froward. My main concerns are the wiring i just dont wont to rip my dash out to swap all the wiring (my dash is in better shape) if i dont have to, but i dont wont to rewire anything both cars have the same options, monnsoon system power everthing ect... All i wont to do is drop in the 98 engien harnness in and have everthing work if i can, but before i start i wont to know for sure if thats what i can do. thanks

You don't have to do anything behind the Dash, but you will have to modify the Harness to make it work. Some Wires will have to be moved around, and some may have to be added.

i called speartech he said for 500 he can rework a 99+ harnness i have to plug and play so i'm going that route just for time since thats what i dont have and i've used him before. but thanks for all the help

I had John at Speartech do my harness for my 97 LS1 conversion. Worked flawlessy and started up on the first attempt. I have a thread in here too if you want to check it out (link below). I was too chicken to tackle the wiring because I hate doing it. The fee that Speartech charges is worth every penny in piece of mind knowing you don't have to worry about an electrical fire or frying a PCM lol.... 
Just send him your 98 harnes and he'll make it plug-and-play for you.

that price is if i send him a harness, i have a 98 and 99+ harness and ecm so i'm going with the 99+ since it a better ecm, speartech did the harness in our 92z and its a great setup
