Default msd by edelbrock vs 6010 msd help!!!

i bought the edelbrock kit with victor jr intake with the timing control module!
looks like it came with 6 pills and thats it im assuming i cant run nitrous because there is no retard also no indication on what rev limiter is and i cant adjust the timing. probably the biggest ripoff ive ever bought its useless to me
Anyone running this box by edelbrock with cam headers etc?
anyone running msd 6010?
i need serious feedback really want to get this thing running but just hit this big ol bump!lol i want to run nitrous and have a rev limiter at like 6800 rpms!

From what I have read the victor jr comes with the 6010. I can not verify this personally though. Do you have a pic of the box you have?

NOT! The Edelbrock setup comes with a low-powered version of the MSD-6010, not user adjustable at all, and only uses preset "pills". The full-blown 6010 box is fully programmable.

The rev limiter on the stock MSD boxes is 5500 RPM. I would imagine the Edlebrock box is the same.

Dump that POS and get the 6010. you will need it for custom timing curves anyway.

BTW, check out the sticky in this section on whether anyone is using a carb and dist on an LS motor. Lots of talk about the ignitions boxes.

also know that there is a different box for the 58x vs 24x reluctor wheels. If you have an LS2 you need a 6012 box.

it has no rev limiter. my car has ms4,prc2.5 and it does run good. it ran 6.90 at 101 in a coupe mustang. dont know the weight but has nothing out of it yet. have no problem with it idleing or driving around town, just worried about having to much timing

i have a 02 6.0 lq4 317 aluminum heads with cam sensor in back by firewall. after research looks like i need the 6010 box.
i might have to make it work for now i am worried about getting it running ok with my big cam. similiar to comp cams xr287 xer almost the same but in the future i want to tune for nitrous and better timing than the pills more like 30* and less instead of 33-36* from what i have read
