No worky with your 5-lugy... haha. Change the front back to 4-lug, and use the spindles for the Feb. Drift Nirvana.

I'm not dissing your build or your talent, but why didn't you start with a 240 that wasn't so rusted and F-d up? 240's are dirt cheap these days.

The reason I didn't get a rustless 240 is because they don't exist here... haha. I searched for a rustless chassis for a while before I started the project but eventually gave up and decided to use my original car. I also didn't think my car had this much rust. Anyway, it was a good experience. I'm pretty good at welding now.

I want to hear it. Cage bending begins tomorrow. Got the base plates yesterday. Stitch welding is done.

I'm really impressed man. You used an electric grinder and cutting wheel for removing all that? And a MIG welder? No plasmacutter?

Haha ive been using a sawzall for all my cutting so its borderline a plastic knife. I also used my welder to cut a hole through my firewall because i couldnt find my hole saw set lmao.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Update coming soon with some cage building action.

Yeah, that's the reason why all of the holes I cut out are square/triangular... kind of limited to what kind of shapes you can make with 4.5" cutoff wheel. I guess I could get better tools, but prefer to spend my money on baller parts instead.

That's pretty ingenious with using the welder to make holes... haha. Good job.

Nice. Start preparing and saving the moneys.

Update time:

Bullet holes.

No bullet holes.

No lower quarter panels either.

Put left front suspension on to see if my firewall repair will clear the wheel at full lock. And it does.

Made a new foot rest mount (AKA welded some bolts to the floor).

Trying to get an idea of what the car will look like with the lower part of the quarter panels cut off. I like it. I'm getting bigger wheels, so the fenders will be pulled out an inch or two later.

Found some rust while stitch welding rear wheel wells.

Cut, patched, and finished stitch welding.

Cut out some super thick 12-gauge (AKA man-gauge) sheet metal for the roll cage base plates.

Bending this stuff around the rear strut towers was not easy. These were my best friends in the process.

Tada! One bar done.

Main hoop base plates done.

These are for you, Mel. I know you're all about the beads.

Put "interior" back in to measure for main hoop and harness bar.

I'll be bending the main hoop tomorrow. FINALLY.

I got 86 ft of tubing for a bit under $400, but 60 ft would probably be enough for a basic 6-pt. The 12-gauge sheet metal for the base plates was $40 for 2x2 ft.
