Re: 3rd gen Rx7 with ls1 I am really excited about it. I am a guy in mid missouri who, after doing most of the mods to the FD blew the engine. (problem with the boost controller) After about 3 weeks of not looking at the car I was debating on selling it for pieces or fixing the engine and selling it. So I mulled that over for about 2 weeks. My friend at the machine shop here at school suggested putting a small block chevy engine in it. He said it wouldn't be too difficult, and the engines were cheaper.
I found that guys were doing the ls1 swap. I realized that it seemed to work better in our cars than having to cut a hole in the hood.
So After getting ripped off on my first engine ($2700 down the drain on an internet fraud) I got an engine and installed it using brian hinsons parts.
I am messing with the wiring right now. I have moved all the engine wiring to the bin behind the driver and I have a little more to do on that to make sure it still works.
I am messing with all the plugs on the wireharness. There are extra plugs that are located near the two large PCM plugs,
So I am doing the conversion and keeping the car. Since it now has a more reliable engine and better power, and lots better gas milage!
I didn't like the 12 mpg...
I have been using torquecentral for a lot of info..but I havn't had much time to post because I am trying to get this car done, work on my masters and I just got married.
But I will try to be more 'posty' about things onec I have time...
That is basiclly my FD situation....

Re: 3rd gen Rx7 with ls1 I am SERIOUSLY considering selling my Camaro and doing one of these swaps. One question I have, though, is the same as 1CAMWNDR- does anyone have a pic of the Hinson headers?? Also, what about exhaust?? Any LS1 that I swapped in would need more than a single 3" (more likely dual 3" or single 4").
Here are the JTR LT headers they make u can get them in 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 coated too.
