Default 2007 6.0 from a van?

I went to the junkyard today to see what they had for 6.0 liter engines and they have a 2007 6.0 with a 4l80e with 20k miles. they will sell the whole deal for $2500. Does this seem like an o.k. deal? I want to put it into a 67 chevelle. I will be racing it on the weekends with maybe a cam and a stall. I want to keep all the efi stuff also. Would this engine have the cylinder shutdown on it. It is in an express van.thanks for the help

You may want to ask them two questions, one is it an lq4 or lq9 because the lq9 has a bit more power/compression. Also, is it cable driven or does it have the sensor in teh gas pedal? If it has the sensor in the gas pedal you may want to get the assembley for that as well. I say this because i've just run into the same problems. As for the deal, it seems alright but if you look around you can find better. I got my lq4 from a caddy w/ the 4l60 for 1200 bucks, it had everything but the manifolds and had 35k on it...so look before you leap!

Based on the year of the truck/van (if it is correct) it will be an LQ4 with DBW (no cable TB). That is a great deal for it, the 44L80E is like a TH400 with overdrive, so it will be strong. How are you going to take care of the programming? Either you will need the Throttle actuator to replace your throttle pedal or switch to a cable throttle body and have a competent programmer ensure all of your table will work. Does it come with the harness and ECM? If not you can source an F-Body harness and ECM to run the cable throttle body.

On the 07 it probably has the 64tooth reluctor wheel on the crank, in which case you are pretty much stuck with the DBW throttle body unless you wanna take the crank out and switch. Not really a big deal though the DBW pedal should adapt fine into your chevelle. If not the van pedal one find one from a vette or truck or there are lots of other options.

Thanks for the help.I would just keep the drive by wire . I am still not sure how to figure out if it has DOD or variable cam timing or if I shoud even worry about it. I will be putting a bigger cam in or maybe just a turbo at some point. It does come with all wiring and ecm with accessories.

The timing cover being different is probably the easiest way to tell. I know it sticks out further but I don't have a picture to show the exact differences. Also just to edit myself it would have a 52 not 64 tooth reluctor wheel on the crank.

This VIN says LQ4 as stated above and should not have VVT or AFM. Since its hard to check timing covers on a van, a 3 bolt throttle body will confirm its an LQ4.

I dont think you can get any other 6.0 besides an LQ4 even in 2009. If its low mile and comes with everything, its a decent deal.

Thanks for the help guys. It doesnt matter if it is a LQ9 or a LQ4 to me. If it is a LQ4 I will put a small turbo on it and if it is an LQ9 Ill put a bigger cam in it.thanks again. I cant find a whole lot of info on the DOD or the VCT .

It should be a Gen III LQ4 the vans carried over for 2007.

Although it might be a LY6 look to see if it has a four bolt TB, and front cam sensor and side mount knock sensors, then its an LY6 with a 58x reluctor wheel and it will have Gen IV case above the 6.0l in the back of the block. Its VVT with out DOD.

My LQ4 came from an '04 express van and I was expecting DBW, but it was cable. Seems the vans went to DBW later...or never. It might be a cable TB.

No if your swapping cams you'll need replace the front cover. And tune hte PCM to remove it. Or just use a VVT performance cam.

I bet its a LQ4, if it was a LY6 that's a steal with the trans for $2500 bucks!

I have a Z06 cam out of an 2008 corvette, duration 216/230 594/598 lift with1.8 rockers, I was going to use it in my turbo truck, but it requires a front cam sensor and I have a 2 piece front cover that I didn't want to change. PM me if interested and I'll look up the exact specs!!

Im an express van owner......I have an awd express. Anyways, the vans never get the new stuff. They seem to use the old/left overs in the vans. I d bet its drive by cable.

Anyways, the vans are a good place for parts, but an 05 van gets the car stuff from a couple years previous, probably.

When they went to the new duramax, the van got the old duramax. When they made the 6.2, the van gets the left over 6.0's. etc..etc...
