Default '68 Mustang LM7

I thought I'd post some pics of my progress. I figure I'd be piggybacking off some of the LS1-Fox guys, but as far as I know no one's done this swap in a classic 'Stang yet. It's an '04 LM7 that'll have a T56.

Not really a whole lot of progress as of yet due to X-Mas. I did get a T56 to rebuild though! Not much clearence b/w the bellhousing and firewall.

The top of the trans tunnel needs massaging in order to fit the T56. I'm thinking about cutting the motor mounts by about an inch or so instead.

The shifter will come up through the floorboard at approx 21 inches in the pic, which is measured from the back of the bellhousing.
About here:

A used GTO shifter and boot I heisted from work. It's just sitting on the carpet, but that's the approximate place to where it will be.

Awesome man! I have a 65 im swapping a LM7 into as well, though mine is a far ways from being done. I swapped a MII front suspension in for room. (65's are smaller) I still have to find a transmission, might have to go the same route as you and find one to rebuild. I also currently have the motor completely torn down, havent gotten to work on it in awhile
Are you keeping it EFI or going carb'd? What are you using for front accessories?

Truck manifolds won't work. They hit my steering box for sure on the driver's side, and I believe they hit the frame as well. I'm thinking headers are going to have to be custom.

i just saw a little diddy about using 302 headers for the stang? i thought what i think i have a set, and bingo i do. here is what i think i will do. cut off the flanges and install new ls flanges. the spacing is the same, and at least i can get the general engine compartment fit. if i have to modify the so what the were used, this may just work i will keep everyone abreast of the situation!!

I was looking Restomod, a Mustang catalog, and they've got Hedman headers for $189/pr for 65-70 that'll fit 302's. If you could post pics, Jason, of your engine compartment with the headers in place I may be tempted to buy those Hedmans and LS flanges. Where can one get LS flanges by chance?

What's a mn12 T56? Mine's from a '99 T/A

Update: After tearing down the core T56 I bought, all it really needs is a 3-4 syncro! I got a leaking GTO water pump, that I'm gonna try and rebuild by cannabalizing the truck pump.
As for the ETA, I plan on cruising with my buddy in his '66 'Stang from TX to the Mustang 45th Nationals in Birmingham in April. I hope to have the car running by March. When my tax return comes, I'll be getting a '68 KR hood.
