Default Starter and alternator nuts

My LS1 swap into the 66 Skylark is coming along slowly but surely. The '98 motor I am swapping in did not have the large or small nuts on the starter or the nut on the output terminal of the alternator. Anybody have any idea what size and thread I need to buy? Are they metric or sae? Thanks in advance for any help. Hope to be up and running before springtime.

Here's a free 'bump' for ya, since I'll probably need 'em for my swap too...

Got any pics?

Thanks for the responses, guys. V8Rumble, I will post up the sizes here if another member doesn't. Montyafteryou, most parts stores close by do not have a decent selection of metric fasteners. I may have to pull the starter and alternator and take them to a hardware store. I was just hoping someone here would know.

Everything on an LS motor is metric.

I ordered a set from GM direct. I got the part numbers out of an LS swap guide I had. I will have to look at home, but if I can find the order easily enough I will pass it on.

No promises.

GM is actually a good source for this stuff. Pricing isn't too bad and they have the proper coating on them.

I don't see a part number for the smaller nut on the starter but the larger one is 11501085 with a size m8x1.25. And in keeping with GM Parts Bin engineering, the alternator nut is the same size.

Thanks iansane. That much helps a lot. Anyone have the size of the other nut? BTW, I looked up the part number above and it is a whole $1.57 from Chevy. Finally something cheap!

No problem; I work in a chevy parts department so anytime I need part numbers/sizes for my swap I just have to go to work.

Smaller nut is M5. They were not in stock at the dealer and they did not have a part number for them. They gave me on off of a new starter and I matched it up at a hardware store.
