Thanks for all that info!

That sucks about the FRCs, I was really wanting to install a set. I might order a set anyways, and relocate the coils to make them work, or see what I can work up.

As far as the driveshaft goes, I was planning on having this one either made shorter or longer. I had it built 3 years ago, and should beable to reuse the yokes to save some money. I wouldnt trust a stock rusty 3rd gen shaft behind this combination anyways.

I noticed that it seemed to pull everything forward, I dont mind the extra room behind the motor. Transdap should relable their conversion mounts, and instead of the set that moves back 1", that should be normal, and this one forward 1" lol.

Sorry but the little twins were sold, and a replacement should be in the mail here soon

Individual bends showed up today so that I can make a log on the pass side/cross over, so I should be getting started on that tomorrow, and hopefully have it done saturday/sunday.

Reason the vette FRC's dont fit, is they mount onto posts that are on the f-body/vette coil packs, and their lower profile makes them fit properly.

Butttt, that being said, you could hook them onto the fuel rails and then just let them hang over the coil packs

Got some more work done over the last two days. I think I will route the belts like shown below, using a ribbed pully from a tensioner inplace of the idler to get a bit more belt wrap on the waterpump. I already bought another ribbed pulley so that the belt is ridding on the right surface.

Got the passenger manifold done, and a crossover built from the drivers side manifold.

are you not going to run power steering? because you cant run the belt that way, you will chew it up in seconds. you either need to remove the lower bolt on the alt bracket or the stock belt configuration runs from the crank up over the idler then down to tthe alt.

i mention it cuz i did the same thing and trashed my new belt in like 60 seconds.

Do you mean because the belt touches the lower bolt on the ALT? I have a different one with the head cut down, that provides about 1/16" of clearence from the edge of the belt.

You might run into belt slippage with having so little wrap on the crank pulley. JMHO

Ya im worried about it slipping, Ill check around a bit more, as I know people take the PS off Fbodys and still run a MECH waterpump so there must be a way that works.

This is how jim(parish8) has his nova setup. He has done a few of these setups so Im assuming that it works great.

I,m willing to bet he runs into belt slippage as well. Parish's set up is slightly better due to the fact that his tensioner is in a different location. That gives him slightly more wrap on the lower pulley .

Link to parts used in this setup?

I'm trying to do a tight accessory drive too and considering making my own.

Looks like he just flipped the tensioner to pull it in closer.

I changed my mind, i think im going to do my turbo set up like yours. Are you using 3" for the crossover, or just where the passanger side header starts. Also what size primaries? 1 3/4"? Im just wondering how my clearance is going to be with a steel bellhousing for my t56, im sure it will be fine though. Yours is lookin good.

Oh, sorry, I had a response typed up a few days ago, must not have posted.

Cross over is 2.5, and then switches to 3". Primaries are 1 3/4, the header flange is from the dealer. Im sure you will have enough room even with the T56, and might beable to run your cross over similar to mine but instead have it where the bellhousing bolts to the trans.

Another 5.3 + 4L80E conversion going on here too. (Not an Fbody though.)

How is the throttle linkage working out? I've not fully fitted the F body intake onto my motor but it looks awfully close to the water outlet. Or are you going to change the water pump.

On the belt routing, I suppose you could add another idler on the head, like the attached (yes I'm no artist), but if parish is already having success with his setup, then it is probably safe to go with that.

ya, adding another pulley is an option for more wrap

As far as the intake/waterpump, you have to either modify the water outlet neck on the truck water pump, or change over to a LS1/LS2 waterpump. Also the LS1 accessories pull the belt to the motor, so if you change one truck acc over, they all have to be changed over.

Any idea how much they move the belt towards the block? I just bought a truck style SFI damper, so I'll be damned if I'm junking that just yet!
Is the movement enough to stick a motorplate behind the water pump? Or is that asking too much....

James
