Thanks, not sure when it will see a dyno, I had to pull the trans back down, as the front seal pushed out in the trans, and traced it back to a converter issue, so that was sent back. Hopefully next weekend I can have the converter back and in the car. Plans after that is to get a boost controller so that I can turn it past 6lbs, and get to the track to try and hit the goal I set for myself (10.50@130ish on pump/meth).

Yep you missed what kinda kit it is, its a home built set up, 02 fbody manidold on the drivers side, cross over, and a log on the passengerside.

As far as killing a years worth of rubber, those tires I bought with half tread 2 years ago, and they survived 12.0 @ 118 mph down the track, and nitrous passes on the street 2nd gear on, with out much spinning. 2 burn outs with 6lbs, and they were cords! Atleast some of he new metal got a new layer of undercoating

92091837 & 92057931 are for a t56 GTO. Don't know for sure if the 5.3 would have the same mounting bolts for it though..?

I used 12558718 & 12561536 for my iron 5.3 and fbody t56...

It's time for your car to run again.

Guess I can add an update, got the converter back, and put in. Turned it up to 8lbs and moved the timing up to about 14deg. It's a pretty fun ride now

Henry tapped these last night.

Goosed it a bit in first.

3rd gear pull from 60-130 on my speedo, HP tuners says the car is going about 12% faster then what my gauges read. (camera was a bit late, so it starts with me already on the throttle) That was about 155kpa, so just under 8lbs. and timing at 14*. Soon, I will play with the meth injection.

Goddamn thats a nice build. I wonder what your numbers will be...? I know some guys who turbo'd a stock LS1, @ 10psi it made roughly 600crank hp. I have a n/a 5.3 in my 86 iroc, and im leaning towards a turbo build now! Damn! lol.

I was planning on doing the exact same build, I picked up an 85 camaro with the 2.8l set-up. Got the whole car for $100. After reading through this thread and seeing how yours came out, I know for sure that this is the build that I want to tackle. Did you have to change out anything for the motor mounts to go from the v6 to the v8?

Yes, you have to change some stuff. There is another set of holes in the Kmember infront of your current mounts, you need new SBC motor mounts for that year, and bolt them there. You could also spend more money and go with Spohn's LS1 conversion mounts that use the stock Fbody mounds on the LS1, or buy a K Member.

Thanks Skinnies, ya the car runs pretty strong for just a truck motor. 8PSI, 12* of timing and a fuel pump issue that was causing it to lean out, and I got a decent pass: 1.630 6.9x @ 100 and 10.8x @ 126

On 10lbs I was going 102, and got one 1.570 60ft but leaned out so had to abort the run, so I turned it down and after trying to get it to 60 harder got that one 1/4mi pass in It is hard to get the car to leave the line hard, but it PULLS on the back half of the 60ft. I can get about 1-2lbs on the line foot breaking the hell out of the car.

Installing a 6pt cage in the car this week, and will be hitting the dyno this weekend, hopefully make some 6,8,10 PSI pulls.

Goal is the same as before: 10.40's at 130, just looks like now it will be on pump gas.

Still need to get a 2 step, 2nd 255, 160 stat, and some other little things done.

Here are some vids from the past few weekends.

Yeah I saw that whole set up they have. Looks like that will be the easiest way to go. With the k-member it should give me a lot more clearance.

lol not sure how to answer that one, 2 things, im lazy and dont want to wire it up right now, and the second part, I have mixed feelings on how it will perform, and if it will or will not hurt the trans.

LOL yell ya, 11.4s on a TINY street tire, 215/65/15, and 8-9lbs.

NEW GOAL, 10s on the 215s on pump gas

Got the car on a dyno for the first time tonight. 480/480 on 10lbs, pump gas, 12deg. I will see about getting the graph up later, need to get the run files emailed to me.
