Can the LS1 ECU & harness be used to run other engines?

I think the LT1 conversion is pretty cut and dried.

Its expensive but I'm sure it'd pay for itself in time.

When PCM see's a lean condition on Bank 1, originally cylinder 1,3,5,7, it will add fuel to all those cylinders independent from what BANK 2 needs.
If you rewire you're injectors and now an injector originally on bank 1 is now mixed with some originally on bank 2, when the computer goes to adjust fuel based on oxygen sensor feedback, some cylinders are not going to be adjusted.
I believe the firing order function only is for MISSFIRE diagnostics. I don't believe it actually changes the order the PCM fire injectors/coils. There have been threads about this before.
Unless you can tell the PCM which cylinders are BANK 1 and which are BANK 2, its going to be hard to do CLOSED LOOP when using a LS1 operating system on other engines.

I've since scrapped this idea because the class I'll be running now allows FAST systems, but this has really turned into quite an informative thread.

im trying to gather info on swapping a ford ecu on an ls1 for a friend of mine at his machine shop... seems as though this thread gave me some valuable intel that just might point me in the right direction
btw... nice to see a familiar face sws

I know this thread is older than dirt, but does anyone know the exact signal output that is coming from the ford TFI distributor, going to the computer? Like an older chevy HEI, or TBI style distributor has an 8x cam signal (which is still 4x crank) is a ford setup the same way?

Hi first time posting.
Looking for help as I'm going to be using a 0411 ecu to run a sbf cleveland, the setup is with ITB injection
I already have the ecu with vat delete etc. Have 24x reluctor which I'm fitting the front pulley.
Questions- first one- which tooth is the crank pickup pointed to on tcd ? I did find a post on another forum someone doing it on a chrysler 440 but some more pics or info when the sensor is @ tcd would be great , second I'm hoping to use a MDS cam sync https://www.holley.com/products/igni...nc/parts/85211
I see the ls1 uses a high low trigger- halve moon to trigger , so I'm unsure if the msd cam sync trigger will work and more so how to set it up - video of setup the msd cam sync
From this thread I got some good info, like if I setup my ford on number 5 cylinder my engine firing will be the same as the LS
Cheers Jason

Anyone know if the crank sensor for the 24x is orientation critical ? 'Im trying to mount sensor on the front of the engine and if I put the plug facing forward like it is normally mounted that puts it in line with the alternator belt
I could maybe face it so the plug faces backwards but that may still be a problem, preferably I'd like to face the plug up or down
It's a dual track sensor correct ?
Any help would be great - thanks

The crank sensor mounts into the LS engine block where its in close proximity to the crank reluctor wheel.
