Default Acc ???'s

Hey just wondering how exactly a person would go about getting the alternator and power steering pump to work on a swap with a LQ4 6.0 in lets say a 69' chevy truck 1/2 ton 2wd and the motor will be carbed also? I have the chance to buy an engine kinda cheap but it's missing the acc's and I was wondering how a person goes about getting what they need to make it all work.

Just get the bracket from a bone yard for the alt p/s pump. The use your old pump (I think it will bolt into the bracket) and use a pulley from a serp belt system. bolt on a new alt and go. Or get the whole alt p/s pump and bracket and just use a conversion pressure line. JMHO

Ok that was my plan but how do you get the alt to charge? And where would you go to get a hybrid high pressure line? Thanks

You can find alternators that will work off your idiot light on the dash and you should be able to use your steering pump, so you'd be using your old lines. GM steering line ends are fairly standard

yes, he soldered the correct amount of resistors together, put a shrink sleeve over it, and i put it in line with my autometer alt gauge. he goes by the name frost on here. if you pm him im sure he would walk you through it. hes helped me quite a bit with my conversion setup.

No motor comes minus acc's so not only do I have to find them and buy them but also figure out how to make them work lol. I don't know if a newer serp pulley will fit on the older pump?

maybe you could use MARCH pulleys. the make serpentine stups for older acc`s. the problem you might run into is the offset. do you have any acc`s already? if so , you need to know what they came off of. you cannot use acc`s from different vehicles. vttes, fbodys, trucks all have different offsets. sometimes you`ll find complete front acc`s on ebay for cheap. s&p sells many different brackets also.

The alternator is cake. Just forget the fact it ever had a computer on it and hook it up like a plain old SBC.

The only trick with the LS alternators is you have to wire the idiot light through a light bulb. If you don't have a light bulb, or are using an LED for the charge light, then you need a (I think) 470 ohm resistor in series with the charge circuit. If you don't have some resisitance in the line it will burn up the alternator.

This site has a lot of good info on wiring in general.
