So I just picked up a rear ended gto that I plan to pull the motor from to put into my 240sx. Before I pull the motor from the gto I would like to get it started to be sure its in running order. I found the key in the car sitting in a pool of rain water where it appeared to have sat for a while. What I would like to know is if the electronics in the key would have to be functional for the vats to not prevent me from starting the car and if so how can I bypass the vats on the gto? Will the resister method work? Thank you and sorry if this is a newb question.

I am unsure if it is that ez with the gto since there is so much electronic stuff in the key. The post for the security deal is attached to the board in the key but the board is all rusty and unoperational.
