Possible to keep VVT without the GM tranny?
Possible to keep VVT without the GM tranny? I want to put an otherwise stock L92 and keep the VVT into my Porsche 944. The catch is, they have transaxles, like vettes, so I wont be able to use the T56 or any other GM tranny. Does the PCM just need engine load and such to make the VVT work, or does it also need speed or gear sensors from the tranny for it to function? The 944 transaxle does have an electronic speed sensor but I don't know if the PCM can be recalibrated? Thanks in advance!!

I'm not exactly sure of all the parameters the vvt runs off but, I think what you're wanting to do should be feasible. GM offers vvt engines as marine engines on there web site so I'm sure there should be a means to run one without a transmission, if indeed they do use the transmission parameters for the vvt system. I would maybe email a reputable tuner or speartech, I would think they should be able to answer your question. Hope this helps.
